Warning: Spoilers
Here we have "The 75th Annual Golden Globe Nominations" and if I am not mistaken, these were held in late 2017 and the actual ceremony took place in early 2018. So this is obviously not the awards presentation that ran for three hours or so, but just the nomination announcement that ran for 15 minutes exactly. The head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at that point was Meher Tatna, an Indian actress that you have certainly seen in nothing and probably never will see in any projects, even if you are Indian yourself. Maybe her being in such a key position had a lot to do with focus on diversity and of course as a direct response to the #metoo movement. In general, not a bad idea, but we must still be careful that we do not dive into positive discrimination territory with all the good intentions on our minds. Anyway, I think she is no longer head there as this year a German was in charge even (I am writing this as a German) and I think that in-between somebody else got appointed too, so these heads of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association do change pretty quickly. So no surprise we do not know her date of birth really and also that she came off as lackluster when she opened the announcement and also said the final words. We also find out that Seth Meyers hosted the Golden Globes back then. Or will host? Or would host? Did not get me curious either.

There were four actors there that told us the nominees. Woodard and Stone won a Golden Globe each in the past. Hedlund and Bell had zero nominations at that point. A bit surprising also for me to see there were three female announcers and one male announcer. Should be we grateful at least one guy was there? Questionable approach from a mathematical perspective if we are talking about gender equality. I found the presenters rather bland. Woodard struggling with Ronan's first name was not funny, but still ten times better than Bell's performance. You can call it that with what she did after she finished reading out the first set of nominees and also how she encouraged the people in the room to applaud on another occasion. The other three were not as bad, but still fairly bland. Also pretty strange inclusion of The Rock's daughter, who was doing nothing but sitting here. Is that supposed to be a dignified female inclusion? I could also comment a lot on the actual nominees, but I think I'd rather not and keep it short. Some I have seen in the now almost half a decade since this announcement, others I haven't. Geoffrey Rush and Kevin Bacon are always welcome inclusions obviously and the latter even gets away with a pretty sleazy title. I wonder if Sharon Stone was uncomfortable with saying these three words. Not "I love you", but hey two out of three at least. With a few others like Laura Dern I was not happy that they got nominated. Also interesting here to hear Armie Hammer's name if we take a look at what happened to him in the last few years. He went south quickly. This is all. I would not recommend the watch this time. Not a failure, but still extremely forgettable and fairly uninspired and I am glad it was this short. Could have been shorter for all I care really.
