Loving season 2 so far, especially due to Laura Dern! She is by far the shining star this season, and I could watch Renata in every scene lol. Acting is phenomenal overall.

Big Little Lies: The End of the World

"The End of the World" gave us the return of the intoxicatingly delightful upper-middle class mothers in a school setting, and it was all thanks to Amabella. This was probably my favorite episode of the season so far, and echoed very closely to last season's highlight episode "Living the Dream". There were lots of wonderful comedic moments, lots of touching moments, lots of heartbreaking moments, and lots of character development from everyone. We had Renata's hilarious one-liners and the over-populated therapists of Monterey, but it just as quickly shifted to seeing Celeste continuing to struggle with how she remembers Perry; and even the possibility that she "misses the war". Overall, a perfect episode.

After the powerful episode: Tell-Tale Hearts, The End of the World seems to be more intriguing than revealing. This episode engages slowly but remains exciting from start to finish. With great performances, especially by Madeleine (Witherspoon) whose powerful speech shows its more fragile side that perhaps is one that we had seen little of her. Likewise, Celeste (Kidman) shares a session with her therapist in which they discuss things that probably are going to be crucial for the remainder of the series. Things for Jane and Bonnie seem to get better, however the presence of Mary Louise (Streep) will surely torment them in the next episodes.

Rock on, another great episode! PJ Byrne is excellent in this one and so is everyone else. There's a few very sweet moments and incredible editing of images! Renata is so good too, solid episode. "Maybe we can get a coffee sometime and talk about what I missed" - Love that line! I also wanna add to this Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are phenomenal!

Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz) - Talking with Jane at the beach.
Celeste (Nicole Kidman) - Being asked by her Therapist if she self-inflicts her wounds and if Perry's like a drug which she's addicted to.
Jane (Shailene Woodley) - Meeting with Mary Louise, speaking of Perry's sweet and violent sides, and being asked if she had initiated the one night with him.
Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) - Speaking at the School Assembly after parents complain about their kids being taught about Climate Change.
Renata (Laura Dern) - Her attitude towards her husband and the Doctor at the Hospital after Amabella is brought in.

Firstly it was much nicer than the other 2 parts I think Meryl Streep has left his mark on this part again.
Motherhood was reflected in us very beautifully, no matter how bad the word was said about her son she can't accept because she's a mother.
The episode went very quickly, which is proof that it was beautiful.
At the end, it gave an overview of the lives of 5 women.Wonderful

What a low point in a fabulous series. No therapist would ever speak to a patient the way that she spoke to Madeline and Ed, and no physician would speak to the Klein's that way that he did either. These scenes are ridiculous and not entertaining at all. No subtlety. And now all of a sudden Abby is confiding 100% in her mom? This show needs to pull it back together and not fall down the trap of oversimplification or over politicization. Ugh!

The second season of "Big Little Lies" is starting to remind me of the latter half of the second season of "Twin Peaks" (1990), where all sorts of random stuff is happening but you do keep watching solely because you are attached to the characters and the location. There are some beautiful scenes (Mary Louise's refusal to accept her son's ugly side, Jane's "dance", Madeline's speech, etc.), but minimal plot developemnt - if, in fact, there is a plot at all. *** out of 4.

Jean-Marc Vallée directed all episodes from series 1, and Andrea Arnold directed all from series 2. Well it was revealed in July 2019 that Andrea lost control with Jean-Marc being brought in to manage the edits. I feel bad for Andrea, who is British, that her authority was usurped.
Mary Louise (Meryl Streep) starts to connect the dots in the events leading up to her son's death. She befriends Jane and seeks to establish a relationship with the grandson.
Ed is being a bit of a bad boy (by Ed's standards) in response to learning of Madeline's affair with the theater director.
Too many secrets.
At the very end of the credits, guess what? There's a special thanks to Jean-Marc Vallée .

I loved the first season of Big Little Lies, but I wasn't excited to hear there would be a second. Why, exactly?
And it's become the very thing I feared it would: a beautifully cinematic and well-acted soap opera. I'm bored. Something has to happen to nudge this out of the Days of Our Lives domain. Right now, it's stagnating.

I would HATE it if Meryl Streep got yet another shiny statue for her rather staid performance in this show. Did she see all the Golden Globes/Emmys BLLs received & decide to join the cast? This is the best role Nicole Kidman has ever portrayed, the pinnacle of her career, not to mention Laura Dern's stellar role. Meryl adds little to this show. This episode is great, not as amazing as the last, yet the original cast carries the story on their own, without Meryl's help.
Can someone please kill Renata?
