A married woman's life turns upside down when she learns her husband is married to another woman.

Recently married, AVERY (28) finds out that her new husband, ALEX (35), has another wife. Devastated, Avery decides that the only decent thing to do is to inform the other wife, MELANIE (30), of Alex's deception. But instead of being angry with Alex, motherless Melanie seeks to steal Avery's son, Jack, and to eliminate the competition.

Flashback. A woman, screaming, "Jack!" is being abducted from an indoor carnival. Widow, and single mom, Avery, has had a tough time of it, living on the edge, working as a free-lance artist, and determined to be a good mom to her young son, Jack (4). Her luck changes when she meets Alex, a handsome, successful attorney, who dotes on her and especially adores Jack. After the wedding, all seems like bliss, except for Alex's frequent business trips, often on the spur of the moment, and his reluctance to talk about his past. Avery confides in her sister, Cat, who tells her that Alex will eventually open up. Avery intercepts cryptic texts on Alex's cell phone, and confers with Cat about how secretive and guarded Alex is acting. Avery follows Alex to see what "business" he's up to. Alex drives to another town, parks outside of a suburban house and enters with a key. In a few minutes, he exits with a pretty brunette, Melanie. Avery is shocked when they kiss. After Alex leaves, Avery knocks, introduces herself, and tells Melanie that she is Alex's wife. Avery is shocked when Melanie reveals to Avery that she and Alex have been married for 10 years. Avery confronts Alex. He confirms that he is married to Melanie, says he's sorry, but Melanie is psycho. He's been trying to get a divorce, but she has threatened to kill him. He loves Avery and Jack, and doesn't want to lose them. Avery doesn't buy it. She feels betrayed and tells Alex, that if Melanie is really psycho he should alert the authorities. Avery immerses herself into her work in preparation for an upcoming art show. When the night approaches and the unveiling of her much-anticipated sculpture is revealed, the room is stunned to find, the sculpture is mutilated. Melanie is there to watch smiling, and Avery knows that Melanie is unhinged and is willing to wreak havoc on her life. Alex, isn't so sure, he suggests that Avery might be seeing things that aren't there due to the stress that is overwhelming her. Her son's near kidnapping was only 6 months ago and she still has lingering grief over Jack's father's death. Alex also wants to play nice with Melanie so that he can ultimately get a divorce. Avery, decides that she needs to escape for a few days to the family cabin with Jack. She needs time to think away from Alex and all reminders of Melanie. Meanwhile, Cat is increasingly concerned that all of what Alex has told her about Melanie doesn't ring true and investigates Melanie on her own. Cat breaks in to Melanie's home and discovers that Melanie is really after Jack and not Avery or Alex at all, but gets caught in her search before she can escape. Avery meanwhile is up at the remote cabin, unaware her sister is in danger and that Jack is Melanie's next target. When Melanie, learns Avery's whereabouts, she heads up to the cabin to steal Jack and kill Avery. Alex appears just in time at the cabin also and reveals that Melanie was the carnival kidnapper! But when Alex shoots Melanie, Melanie's shares that Alex betrayed her and that he was also in on the plan. Unsure who to trust, Avery's only concern is to now save her son and to get away from her husband and her husband's secret wife.
