a true adaptation
For many reasons, for me, it is Seriozha Karenin s episode. For the meeting between him and his uncle and for mister Karenin. For the last words between him and Vronski. For the answer about deep bitterness and obvious good soul of a military doctor.
The young Makar Mikhalkin gives the fair performance, short and intense, for define the portrait of Kirill Grebenshchikov, not very convincing in the preview episodes.
The scenes of the carriage running to train station, reminding so many Gothic writings , is admirable used for suggest the fury of the end.
Maksim Matveev seems privileged. His Alexei Vronski reminds a long tradition of Russion heroes, desillusioned, cold and bitter souls, accepting all after high tries to fix holes/ scares of past. The attitude about young Chinese, as a sort of last exercise to become the father who was not, the remain in campaign hospital and the poetic end are good pieces for define it in wise manner.
Maybe, not the best version of Tolstoy novel - in principle , it is only inspired by book - but, first for Elisaveta Boiarskaia and Maksim Matveev , for Vitali Kishchenko and Ivan Kolesnikov, especially for the work of Viktoria Isakova, a true one.
And for this, I admitt, I am profound gratful to Karen Shakhnazarov.
