Much more of a promotional film for Dodge trucks than anything to do with the making of King Solomon's Mines (1950).
The Narrator states that after the arduous seven month expedition, the entire repair bill for the seven Dodge trucks was a "mere $238 American". This would be equivalent to about $3000 in 2023.
The Narrator states that the convoy approaches a river in British East Africa. This refers to territories formerly under British control that now are the countries of Kenya, Uganda, and The United Republic of Tanzania.
At the beginning, a portion of a map of Africa's east coast is shown with a large section noted as "Unexplored Region". This region is mainly in Tanganyika (now part of The United Republic of Tanzania, formed in 1964 when Tanganyika merged with newly independent island nation of Zanzibar). Filming of King Solomon's Mines (1950) also occurred in Uganda, Kenya, and the Congo (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). The movie's filming also occurred in California and New Mexico.
