A "fan film" back before "fan film's" were a thing.
The original version of the film, shot and shown in 1982, was only 30 or so minutes and stood on its own. When Michael Kallio started an unfinished sequel, he decided that the stuff, shot in 1984 for the sequel, would make a great opening for the original, creating a 45 minute Indy movie.
The bullet hits VFX were done by an old Super-8 trick, much like scratching the film for lasers but, instead of scratching the film, Kallio put little pin holes in the film, creating the bullet "ricochet" effect.
The ninja suit was an actual Army Surplus ninja outfit borrowed by Jacob Kallio from his friend and neighbor.
Michael Kallio had his mother take some "publicity shots" with her 35mm still camera. It featured Kallio has Indy, Jacob in the ninja costume (with rainbow colored canvas high tops) and a Tiki statue, a souvenir from his mom and grandmother's trip to Hawaii (which is also the idol in the film). The photo was used to create a full sized one sheet movie poster that Michael gave to his cinematographer, producer and mother, Kathy, for Christmas in 2015. One also hangs in Kallio's home office. It was designed by Michael and fabricated and Photoshopped by his friend and artist, Zack Morrisette.
