Not Fair to compete with Roxanne
graham_j_mercer6 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's Cyrano de Bergerac modernised!

It's not a classic- not got the experience or quality actors or writers of Roxanne. But it is a great effort! An enjoyable 90 minutes or so for me.

Hard Pass
krc44616 October 2021
Simplistic, predictable and unoriginal. Hard pass on this movie.

Look elsewhere for a creative, interesting and inspiring story... because you are unlikely to find a good movie within "It Takes Three." Little humor. Easily forgettable.

For me, a $1 iTunes rental. Funds better spent elsewhere. Board and annoyed throughout this story.

not too bad...

For a highschool+ date+prom, unoriginal nerd vs stud story, with small incitions of warmth and humour, its a film that couldve used even more comedy on overdrive, but still warms a grumpy old mans heart. Beautiful musical sc ore and viable acting.

I mean, its been done before....but I thought it was lovely.

Please can someone comment with a link to a soundtrack? Especially for the song at the beginning of the dance. Thanks.

Highly Enjoyable
gab-675996 September 2021
It was late when I started watching this movie and thought to myself "I'll watch some and then go to sleep". Now finishing the whole movie in one sitting I would be lying if I say I didn't truly enjoy this movie. Unlike most new movies this one kept me interested. Typical high school drama movie, but the actors each had their own flavor and kept it fresh. This movie was surprisingly funny and clever.

If you ask me, they should have went with their first title of Rhino for this movie. I loved Kat, she is gorgeous and much prettier then Roxy if you ask me. I highly recommend this movie if you are a sucker for a good love story with comedy in it. I will definitely be re-watching this one.

Yet another film adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac, with a twist
drohmark24 November 2022
According to Wiki there have been 12 film adaptations of Edmond Rostand's play, Cyrano de Bergerac. Now make that 13 with Rhino, AKA It Takes Three-2021-revolving around modern day high schoolers which means nerdish male and female leads opposite popular boy poser and their smart but popular counterpoint. I started watching it with skepticism but stayed and enjoyed it. Some plot points seemed too contrived, the beautiful, young and way too hip Principal, as an example. Also, the two moms factor seemed a little off but better than a modern version Ozzie and Harriet. The 1987 Steve Martin version, Roxanne, remains far superior. This should make your watch list, perhaps in the lower third. However, if you keep your expectations in-bounds, you should enjoy the actors and the brave attempt to make it modern.

Entertaining, if a little uneven
bobby-9934422 April 2022
It did make me laugh on more than one occasion, and I think it was very well acted.

The tone was uneven at points, but all the characters came across pretty authentic and engaging for the most part. I liked how 'the Jock', whilst a bit superficial, wasn't a total bullying piece of work, but actually under it just another teenager dealing with the joys of adolescence whilst making some questionable choices.

Whilst writing this review I've upped it one more star as the sound track was absolutely outstanding, and I'm going to seek it out!
