    Good movie

Sunny Our Heart Beat Together is a girly friendship Japanese movie by Genki Kawamura, who is also the director of Your Name (2016). This movie is about a 90s high school friend group named "Sunny," which used to spend their teenage years together. Until 22 years later, each of them was grown up and facing adult problems for themselves. One day, one of the members, Nami, runs into another Sunny member, Serika. But, she has been ill because she has cancer, which has no cure. Serika told Nami that she wanted to reunite with Sunny before she died. Then, Nami is trying to do everything to make Sunny come together again.

They was do very well in the part that can make audience deep down with theirs relationship. And, the scene of the movie is cut back of forth between the part of past and past of present made audience not boring. Moreover, mood and tone obviously show the difference between the colorful life of a high school girl and the dark life of an adult woman. In the past part, there are also some scenes that use song to be the main theme of that part, like it's a musical movie. For me, it caught my attention and made teenage life more wonderful. Many scenes are lighthearted. On the other hand, there are also many scenes of gloom. It made this movie do very well in contrasting bitter and sweet. Good combination.

    4/10

I was excited seeing Hirose playing the Japanese version of Nami. I really thought this remake would at least do the original movie justice unlike other hollywood remakes of asian movies.

However, I don't think this remake was intended for international audience. it's more like they're making this for Japanese audience only.

There's so many memorable scenes in the original movie that's just plain and boring in the remake. and the ultimate no no for me was when they change the sunny soundtrack into an unknown Japanese song (at least to me) and came up with a lame dialogue for them to explain why they chose Sunny as their gang name.

but then again, I'm not much of a Japanese drama fans. and I'm seeing the remake with the original movie goggle.

So if you're into Japanese dramedy and you haven't watched the original. Watch this first and then the original that way you'll be less disappointed. That's what I did with My sassy girl. i watched the hollywood version and thought it was great, then I watched the Korean (original) version and JAWDROPPED IT WAS A FAR BETTER MOVIE.

    Good Enough

One thing that I liked about "Sunny : Our Hearts beat together", was the way they presented the story. And that was bitter sweet. I liked the friendship between the girls, their early days, how they met and how they bonded. Even that first love story was cute.

However, I've found the current story a bit messy and not as well presented. But, the ending was nice and I liked how they added that dancing part in the end, which wasn't shown in the movie.

I need to add here that I haven't yet watched the korean movie, so I don't know if this one was better than the original.

So, overall, six out of ten.
