Harish Bannerjee, the British Raj (colonial Indian) envoy to Canada, reports his sons Vik and Sunil missing from Toronto's most exclusive private boarding school. As none of their classmates seems prepared to talk, nor real friends, Murdoch convinces the inspector to allow youngest constable John Brackenreid to volunteer as undercover student, while Crabtree -also under alias- gets to replace the former English teacher, and fail to inspire the class about his own 'literary masterpiece' set in Ancient Egypt. Both do excellently, creative and employing Murdoch)techniques like blue light to detect blood. They work out about the 'student casino', brothers' hide-out and actual murder of an adult, which proves the key to the school's dark secret. Meanwhile Julia eagerly follows the hormone research on (in)fertile rabbit.
