Old man making amends befriends a guy in mid-life crisis.
refordgarry7 August 2020
Make sure you've got 2 Hours free to watch this flick. For a road-move it has wonderful moments of poise & reflection. For those who believe that Life is like a River this movie will enchant you, thanks in great part to the magnetic personality of old-man Carl, played most sincerely by Lance Howard, offset by the zany but unsettled character of Prince, portrayed by Michael Worth. Just enjoy. In an ideal world this movie would walk away with the odd award, but just quick look at the phony accolades ceremonies gives little reason for any optimism here..

another of but different straigt story

Its a road movie , but actually it goes the wrong way than the usual east-west or north-south stretch, this film heads from west to east, amnd will if everything turns out right end somewhere apple seed, vermont/nova scotia somewhere the only one living is the sasquatch or a fishneckslithering girlfriend or the like.

its a young man that rolls of with his fancy automobile, but is low on the bucks. get suddenly in touch with an elderly man, that can offer him both dough and immidiate entertainment, for a hat full of money to pay for the food, the motel and the gasoline. everyone they meet on the lonesome road get kicked and verbally harrased in a way youll never seen since john candy hit the road with his wisconsin ompa-ompa brass band. will they get there youll find out if you see it.

well productionwise there are quite a few upliftersa, very nice photo-/filmography, it has the all american musical style, and the good timeline info. the actors are basicly the b-side and second hand of the farmers league, but that doesnt nescesarilly mean its bad, its just the same all over, in a slow turtle ride towards the ziel-banner.

it has heart and humour, its full of love and life , so either youre a hillbilly redneck or a white collared banker, youll like this , its all american branded from a-z (or å in my language). the grumpy old man nods to this recommend

Apple Seed
BandSAboutMovies29 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Prince Mccoy (director, writer and star Michael Worth) has lost out on all the dreams he once had as he grew up in the small town of Apple Seed. His childhood bank foreclosed on everything his father owned, which he blames for his father's death. And now, he has no home, no girlfriend and no hope. So he decides to drive across the country in his 1967 Mustang - which is all he owns - and make that bank pay for what they've done.

He picks up an old man named Carl Robbins (Rance Howard), a strange senior who has a bucket list on a napkin and a mission to lead Prince on a journey that will change both their lives, meeting a variety of people, like the love that Prince let get away, as they also confront the errors they've made in their own lives.

That's because just like Prince wants to, Carl also robbed a bank. And despite his advanced age, he's facing a prison sentence that will last for the rest of his life. Is Carl's past going to be Prince's future? And what happens when they make it to Apple Seed?

This is the last film that Rance Howard was in, released two years after his death. It also has a role for his son Clint.

There's also an appearance by Robby Benson that echoes the movie Ode to Billie Joe, based on the song of the same name.

Worth told Diversions LA, "I did a film with Rance in Flagstaff, Arizona and I knew I had to do a film for him. It was just one of those things I wanted to get made. We completed the project just before Rance passed away."

As I get older, I've been thinking of the journey of my life. This movie made me reflect on things and wonder when I will go from Prince to Carl in my experience.

Fascinating Journey Into the Hearts of Two Men
norpatrinidad5 September 2020
I only do reviews of movies that move me in a profound way, which means few and far between. One of the reasons is I don't like recommending things period. Who am I to say what someone will like and how they should spend their time. This world is full of a billion different kinds of people and I barely understand myself let alone the rest of the world.

That being said, certain movies strike me in a way that I feel I should at the very least try to point out that a brilliant movie exists. Just in case. This is one such movie, one that assuredly not everyone will like, but for those who do enjoy movies like this, I pray you are as moved as I.

It's basically a slow, beautifully shot, brilliantly acted story about two men 40 years apart who bond in a most beautiful way. But it's so much more than that. In fact, it's not a great movie, but a testament to life, and all the things that we could learn if we only opened the door.

The chemistry between Howard and Worth seems like a long time friendship. I don't know if it is (or was in this case. May you find great happiness Rance) but the warmth is there. And since Michael wrote and directed, his dialogue is truly him.

I cried, I laughed and most of all was plugged in to the entire movie. If it were to ask me "ya feel me man" I would instantly say "yeah....I feel ya".

A touching, engaging and uplifting story
constantinep-137814 August 2020
Rance Howard was the standout in this movie and I enjoyed every minute of it. I cried and laughed at the end. Highlights some of the loveliest locations in the USA. Probably older people like me will value this much more highly than younger people.

Great Story Telling

This movie is a real gem. It does not push some ideology or propaganda. It is about lives of ordinary people, and how they still stay humans no matter what. Great acting and playing. Strongly recommended.
