Summaries

  • Giles Coren hosts the first edition of the cultural review show. His guests include DJ Nihal Arthanayake, writer and comedian Viv Groskop and Wolf Alice.
  • Writer, broadcaster and restaurant critic Giles Coren hosts the first edition of the TV version of the BBC Radio 4 arts and culture show. Giles is joined in the studio by BBC Radio DJ Nihal Arthanayake and writer and comedian Viv Groskop to discuss their cultural highlights ranging from books they have read to art installations that have captured their imagination. Interviewer John Wilson talks to British film director Michael Winterbottom about his new film 'On the Road (2016/II)' - a fictional love story filmed on tour with the band Wolf Alice - and the range of films and television programmes he has directed. Nihal and Viv engage in fierce debate over the literary merits of the Harry Potter books and review Channel 4's '"Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams' (2017)'. Welsh actor, rising Hollywood star and avid art collector Luke Evans acts as a guest interviewer as he visits one of the most creative and challenging artistic double-acts in Britain - Gilbert and George, to discuss free artworks, beards, living sculpture and how the pair first met. Back in the studio Wolf Alice are the show's first musical guests as they perform the first single from their new album.—Mark_a_Wood <markawood@hotmail.co.uk>
