A silly and aburd comedy that is only redeemed by the attractive actors playing eccentric roles.
ma-cortes20 February 2024
Set in Madrid, stars a stand-up comedy woman, Isabel (Leticia Dolera), who's hired to perform at a company meeting. While Roberto Allende-Salazar (Javier Rey) is an egoistic and arrogant CEO with a luxurious lifestyle without a worry, which family shipping company's control is divided with his two brothers, Daniela(Amaia Salamanca), an aggressive and full-time CEO obsessive with the work who wants to close some subsidiaries companies and fire a great part of the employees to cut losses and the youngest, inept and absent-minded Fernando (Daniel Pérez Prada), the third man in contention, an underdog obsessed with the navy. Along the way, Roberto is attempting to convince his brothers about a new project concerning a new kind of turbine for ships. Then Roberto discovers that the geek Fernando wants to leave the company and giving his support and vote to any Daniela's decision. Meeting with Fernando, he and Roberto make a pact: find someone to seduce Daniela to change her mind about the turbine. If Roberto wins, Fernando will give Roberto the vote, but if Roberto fails, turbine's patent will given to the Spanish Navy. Then the CEO hires a stand- up comedian to seduce his sister , who's alleged lesbian, after they two fight to the control of their family company.

Romantic comedy starring Leticia Dolera with a script in the purest 'Screwball Comedy' style, full of entanglements, mayhem and sharp as well as ridiculous dialogues. Leticia Dolera plays a talented and unsuccessful stand-up comedian who finds herself involved in the power struggles of a family of businessmen. This is a Leticia Dolera recital, she's the real starring. Leticia is a famed actress, writer and famous feminist. Being known for REC³ Génesis (2012), Vida perfecta (2019) y Requisitos para ser una persona normal (2015). She worked with her (now ex) husband Paco Plaza in Luna di miele, luna di sangue VII (2010), REC³: Génesis (2012) and Verónica (2017) (as a director), in Spanish Movie (2009) (as an actor), in Sr. Rosso (2007) (as a producer), and in A o B (2010), Habitantes (2013) and Requisitos para ser una persona normal (2015). After being very known by her feminism and being a very critical voice against pregnant women layoffs, in November 2018, after a verbal agreement with Aina Clotet for which Clotet would play one of the main characters of Dolera's TV Series Vida perfecta (2019), she decided not hire her when she knew that Clotet was pregnant.

The film deals with the war of social classes, the upper-class world of the three brothers intersects with the lower classes of Leticia and her friends -Brays Efe and Miriam Hernandez- while an endless number of crazy characters swarm around, brought to life by actors and actresses such as Amaia Salamanca as a demanding executive who lives up to the excess for the shipping company she runs with her brothers, the youngest Javier Rey who plays a selfish visionary with a business and vital approach that is radically opposed to Daniela. Along with the engaging familiar faces, such as: Santiago Segura, Itziar Castro, Mar Saura, Hugo Silva, Eloy Azorín, Pablo Rivero, director Nacho Vigalondo, entre otros.

Mediocrely directed by the debutant Inés de León, coming from the music videos, and shhoting some Shorts (Muñeca Vudú and La Carta), the film was nominated for the Golden Biznaga at the 2019 Malaga Festival. Rating: 4/10. Below average. Only for the hardcore fans of the modern Spanish Comedy.

I dare you not to laugh

A romantic comedy that will allow you to have a good time with its quirky characters in funny situations.

The story will make you crack a big smile watching with humor the interaction of its protagonists, which is full of jokes and funny situations, hints and double meaning comments.

I had low expectations but it made me change my mind. Let's clarify that it is not the best comedy in the world or a masterpiece, but it fulfills its main objective of entertaining, making people laugh and having a good time. In addition, there is a good chemistry between their characters.

Try it, you won't regret it.

A Hidden Jewel

I love romantic comedies and I love the Spanish sense of humor. Lighthearted. left-field and very clever are words that come to mind. The end of the movie punchline and their "honesty" made me laugh and laugh. The casting was superb. Letica Dolera is so quirky and cute, I really love her work and this is maybe her best? Any movie that leaves you with such a feel-good factor has to be an 8+. Yes it is a bit corny but it is extremely funny and entertaining. Leaving a movie theater with a huge smile and wanting to recommend it to others is proof enough!
