Moving documentary!

Warning: Spoilers
I have seen this film twice...it's a moving piece. Really captures the struggles of children without parents and cuts to the core...it's often not a lack of relatives or parents that puts children into orphanages, it's economics. Strengthen and support the families economic situation and it goes a long way toward fixing a major problem at a fraction of the cost and with higher benefit. Great message!

The journey you are taken on through the lives of these beautiful children will provoke your heart to desire change in our world today. Not only from the standpoint of society but how we as individuals can make such a big impact.
Thought provoking for anyone with a heart for orphans

This documentary really goes to the heart of the issue of orphans and orphanages and gives some clear solutions that are working around the world. The facts are dispersed around stories of a few orphan stories from around the world. Overall a authentic well-made documentary about a important issue!

Lacking in several ways

Completely agree with the premise of this movie that orphanages need to be phased out all over the world, and they need to be replaced with keeping families together or local fostering/adoption, together with community care centers and workers. The research and evidence are clear on this. But I'm saddened that this movie did not do a good job of presenting a convincing and coherent case.
This documentary is more of an exposé of the lives of three kids in different countries affected by poverty and not having parents rather than a compelling argument against orphanages.
I appreciate the sincerity of the film makers and their passion for this cause, but I would advise the filmmakers to be mentored by Craig Greenfield or others who are seasoned in the field to get their messaging right. I also hope that the filmmakers will make sure that the making of this film was not just an emotional two-year experience, but that they will return to the field to join those of us who are here serving and committed to helping develop long-term solutions that are substitutes for orphanages.
