- Twelve-year-old girl detective Charlotte Holmes, the niece of Sherlock Holmes, unofficially investigates the case of a ring stolen from the Queen of England during a garden party and recovers the jewelry. As a result, Charlotte is rewarded with a new title of honorary detective and a pendant as an emblem of recognition which states requires citizens of the United Kingdom to protect and aid her. After her initial investigation, Charlotte gets too close to the truth about an even greater crime - a gang of art thieves plans to steal priceless paintings from the palace. The lead villain captures the blue-eyed blonde then clamps a hand over her nose and mouth until she passes out. He then leaves Charlotte bound and gagged in a storeroom, her hands roped behind her back, her feet are tied, and silenced with cloth tied over her mouth and nose. She is tries to hitch herself along the floor towards a window, upsetting a stack of crates in the process, and causing large rats to land on her causing her to writhe in agitation. After a brief rest and sweating from the exertion as she reaches the middle of the floor, she struggles against the ropes for a moment, but soon realizes that she is helpless and begins to cry as she gazes out the window in despair. Fortunately her best friend Frank and Michael. a handsome and friendly adult (one of the few that recognize her talents), realize she's missing and, with the aid of Frank's dog who follows her scent. The pair spot her sitting in the storeroom still bound and helpless. After prying off the bars to a storeroom window, the pair rescue the young detective. Charlotte alerts Scotland Yard detective Jackson, who had heretofore been unimpressed (and frankly embarrassed by her detective skills) to the impending crime, resulting in the gang getting captured red-handed.
