Good show
chappo-892941 September 2019
I have actually built a business based on gas monkey and garage rehab, and Richard Rawlings and his business plans. I have just acquired another site and will clean it up as per the show, I obviously have skills and qualification's but the show told me that I can exspand and get bigger. Another Great Show from Richard Rawlings
Bronco4629 September 2017
Anyone paying attention to cable TV knows Richard Rawlings. He's the man behind Gas Monkey Garage. And the Gas Monkey Bar & Grill among other things. After doing a number of things. He managed to turn a two-door garage to a major shop in Dallas, a great restaurant/bar and he continues to demonstrate his abilities are promotion, marketing, picking markets, measuring people, and recognizing businesses that have value. And we get to see how with a lot of hustle, money, and talent how he can turn a failing garage around in a week. It's remarkable seeing the just how bad some of these businesses are. And that they can in fact, be saved. With Richard's and his teams help. These one-hour episodes fly by. Very interesting watching a man who really knows what he's doing. Do his thing. AND, he's helping people. Good people save their businesses. Everybody wins.

Little more than an infomercial.
eddie-earl-99-52167511 March 2018
This shows a bunch of bullies descending on beleaguered businessmen claiming a share in their businesses in return for allowing their chosen equipment suppliers to fit out the garages as showcases.

The lack of a long term appraisal to gauge whether the investment has been a success only proves that their claims to have rescued the businesses to be shallow.

Great Show But Flawed
dazzabazza8 October 2017
As the reviewer from Oz stated and exactly what I thought when I watched it for the first time this afternoon, this is great , Richard has thrown a tonne of money and expertise at these failing businesses but what I really wanted to see was how the businesses were doing 3-6 months down the line, did the investment help the flailing businesses or drown them in more debt ? Perhaps there will be a new show to follow: GARAGE REHAB REVISITED ? I would love to know how the business owners got on.

Scripted product placement
dizzeness25 August 2018
Rawlings being his obnoxious self, supported by the usual super camp lackeys ... It does have occasional useful business tips, but is mainly just a vehicle for product placement, making RR easy money and cross publicising his various ventures

An hour-long Infomercial...
coppytop3 December 2018
Season 1 is entertaining, highly scripted, with unrealistic deadlines. In my opinion, this show is just another way to build and market RR's growing empire. He's a smart businessman! Would be interested in knowing how much of this "reality show" is actually real? It's fun to watch regardless.

Edit to add: Season 2 is basically an hour-long, sponsor-based, infomercial. The rehab layouts are completely unrealistic and non-functional. The design elements - like company logos, color combinations, etc.... all look the same now. Really disappointing.

Anyone can have a show now

Warning: Spoilers
Take Tabitha from TLC, change her gender, turn her into a mechanic and let her rehab your salon....I mean garage.

Has all the appeal of a rotten banana! The host is so hyper-masculine you cringe when the gay jokes start and his "buddies" role their eyes!

Another case of Discovery Channel hyping a show that doesn't need to be. Like the crap about the Curse of Oak Island, you wonder who these people impressed to put this non informative crap on TV?!

Extreme Garage Makeover
aldenprier24 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A cloned cross between Extreme home makeover & Hotel Hell.

Pros: This is a great show for seeing a drastic change from your average dirty, congested junk filled corner garage to a beautiful facility. Amazing to see how poorly some of the shops are trying to operate

Cons: It appears that the only help that Richard's crew is providing is cleaning up their facility and providing a bunch of new equipment. It is lacking any connection one how these business' are operated or how they move forward with the new equipment provided.

The shots of the beautiful sponsored equipment they are installing gets old. Removing perfectly capable equipment to install sponsors equipment is unrealistic and the human connection feels fake.

Summary of a typical episode: Tough Love / Richard is your new business partner. 1-800-Got-Junk - Start cleaning everything out of garage. Kick owners out of garage. Show the business owner new opportunities or what their shop should look like. Owners start to adapt to the idea of change. Renovate building. Install tens of thousands of dollars worth of sponsored equipment. Reveal renovated shop to owners.

Kitchen Nightmares for cars... with a terrible mistake
n-m-bertin5 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Richard does what he does. He's motivated, believes in people, tells it like it is, and builds brand new garage shops with brand new equipment. The product placement is a bit too obvious, and worst of all, there is no ending... The point of these shows is to actually make the business work, but it doesn't show that... Each episode ends after the makeover, and that's it. No "3 months later" to see what happened, while EVERY other show of this type does it... So you're left with a bitter ending, and you don't see the point of watching it anymore... It would be like Fast N' Loud without the cars being ever sold or used by anyone...

Russell, personality of a dead goldfish
gojumpindustries20 August 2019
Great idea for a show however he surrounds himself with people who have zero personality and appeal, just like when he had Aaron around in the early episodes of Fast and Loud. Do some more homework Richard, don't bring yourself down with douches!

Fake reality show
jglambgary5 January 2019
Were to begin they never address what got the garage in to the mess there in they basically just give the shop a makeover. I am sure Rawlings is getting a kickback for using certain equipment he never forgets to drop their name. They insult mechanics that are way better than them. They have deadlines that are fake they are suppose to be doing these huge jobs in 6 days not happening. The project manager is a joke who ever heard of a project manager not knowing what is going on. He shows up to the job and the guys are standing outside doing nothing why ? The temp dropped at night they couldn't get the heat on and had no way of getting heaters why ? Project manager Russ must have turned his cell phone off because he thinks he is a tv star not a manager. I would fire my project manager for something that stupid. I am not being mean and the word stupid is the perfect word for this. The project manager does not actually do any physical labor he makes sure everyone else is doing it. If you don't have supplies or a job is shut down because he could not answer his phone and pick up some heaters and drop them off he is gone. You have to remember a project manager gets a big paycheck and his duties is to keep everything on track and everyone working. That's it and if he can't do that then it is time for a new one and put him back on demo or something. I was watching him hang from a ceiling fan breaking the blades of the motor. That was a waste of time and plain old stupidity. I can say these things because I have been a project manager I run a successful business and I have seen guys go out of business even though they were very good at the actual work. Billing, payroll, insurance etc.. Scheduling clients, estimates, getting the job done in the time you promised. These are just some of the things that have killed a business. Then Rawlings takes the garage owner to a car wash and say's ask them to recommend you when their customers ask about getting their car fixed. Yeah that's about 1 new customer honestly who has ever asked a car wash to recommend a garage ?The other place was just a regular gas station like a Cumberland farms again no one asks these places for a garage unless they broke down in front of it. Marketing is important but just changing the sign is not marketing. You want people to believe these garages actually went on and made money you need to show were they are 60 days to a year later remember these are taped. They need to show someone going over how they are running their business and figure out why they are losing money and fix that. One of the best carpenters I ever saw could not bid a job right he was a terrible businessman a hell of carpenter but a terrible businessman. I went over everything with him ten times he finally agreed to do it my way he is worth several million dollars today. I did not replace his tools or teach him how to build I taught him how to run a business. To sum up this show can be fun to watch just don't think this is reality it couldn't be further from reality if you tried.

if dick spoke to a few guys I know like that he'd be in rehab
arniebraun-2805515 April 2021
I see richards bots have been at it with the high ratings. I thought I disliked him before but this just reinforces what a weasely whiney backstabber it is. If he swanned in with all his bluster & bull & started denigrating some, most,of the guys we know he would definitely be in rehab or be swimming laps next to dory with a cleveland block attached to his ankle to add to his bling. This is just a sponsor paid hack job of a wannabe car show.
