Seams Great, But. . .
SendiTolver11 September 2018
'Seam' is short sf movie written and directed by Dassani brothers who are perhaps best known for their visual effects work in Hollywood television series. This short has great, but many times used (war between humans and machines) idea with little twist - machines have their sleeper agents among regular people. High production values and amazing FX (for a short film), but that's about it. Actors are doing great job, and they have material to work with, but the film is just too short to tell their story completely. Basically, the whole film feels like one action sequence from feature length movie, but not the complete story itself. That is my main complaint (and the shaky cam). Still, it is worth 20 minutes of your time if you're big science fiction fan.

the force of the desert

The desert has its own voice, soul and machine, too. In this good movie , with amazing VSFX, the desert is personified in a machine to defense the people . In the future, brother Dassani could propose great Arabic Sci F movie : the ancient misteries and inherent forces of the Arabic world. Now this is a good shortfilms and we could dream a great Sci-F movie in this way from Jazwood

It was great.

Definitely a professional job good acting, from all, good cinematography and effects. Had the look of a short done with an eye toward getting backing for a larger production. I would definitely watch a longer more detailed version.

For SciFi lovers only

Warning: Spoilers
"Seam" is an American mostly English-language live action short film from 2017, so a relatively new release and this one was made by the Dassani Brothers, actually twins, who are both writers and directors here, even if they are otherwise mostly known for their works in the field of visual effects. It runs for 20 minutes approximately and features Oded Fehr in the lead, an actor who has starred in several big Hollywood projects already, so fans of him can watch this film here. Also Sci-Fi lovers can, if they really love the genre. i am not one of the latter and maybe that's the reason why I did not enjoy the watch too much. but I also felt the film came short in other fields like the attempts at making parallels to our world and society as well as the romantic/emotional component which is crucial here on several occasions, but not executed to a degree where it impressed me whatsoever. So my final verdict here is a thumbs-down. i thought it was a pretty generic little Sci-Fi film that added very little to the genre and came short most of the time and a consequence of that was that it dragged too sometimes. It did not make me curious about possible future projects by the Dassanis. Watch something else instead.

Man/Woman Versus the Machine
Hitchcoc3 April 2019
Most of society tries to go about their own business. But some destructive machines, whose purpose is to stand up for the oppressed, have formed a treaty with the government. They have a place in the desert where they can exist, but they send enhanced spies into the regular society to see what is going on. Two people become the center of all this and they are pursued relentlessly. Lots of action in this short thriller.

Brilliant Short, a Must See
pidstr7 November 2017
This is one of those Short Films where everything was just done 'right'. Perfect cast, good storytelling,.. camera, lighting, sound, sfx and editing all spot on, and all to blockbuster standards. Reason for missing 2 more stars - it should be a feature, and there's a single time/duration issue in the final act, which would take a spoiler to describe, and this film should be reviewed spoiler-free.

Wonderful stuff.

Brilliant SF. Why these short SF films are always so much better then long, big studio movies. I've seen it today, on DUST Youtube channel, with many similar ones, and most of them are gold.

More Than Meets They Eye

Warning: Spoilers
Yes- superb production considering limited time and resources, excellent production values, script/story and acting.....but that's much too facile.

This, to me, is allegory at its best: Suicide bombers exploding when their rage is out of control and when all hope is lost, unconquered by any happiness ever experienced- The failure and abandonment of love leads to death and war. It's now, today, for real.

Excellent, strong emotional power.

This is a remarkable short movie, with high emotional strength. SciFi as a society-mirror at its best.

magnificent

The story as suggested , you having only pieces from them. The desert and the Arab language , the town- who could be from North Africa or Middle Orient are virtues , too. The start scenes and the end are inspired. The performance is beautiful. So, a beautiful film, a serious short Sci. Fi., giving touching love story and terrible clash between people and machines, the price of desobedience and the wise, admirable use of FX.
