A short story with terrible acting and an awful script and uninspired setting. How did this get 5 stars?

A lot of fun

You have to appreciate the sweat, tears and a lot of blood from those indie horror filmmakers that go the full 9 yards. I downloaded Axemas with low expectation given the results I've seen from other films in the genre. That said, Axemas was a nice fun surprise. While formulaic, it was original enough to really entice you and sit back and watch the antics unfold. It was short enough to keep your attention but suspenseful enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. I see a big future for this filmmaker and will keeping an eye out for Axemas II.
