Solid movie
dramaclub0118 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Given that this was a micro budgeted movie, I was pretty impressed with the end result. The acting was good, the dialogue felt natural, and I bought what they were selling. They did rush through Lily's death and I wish there had been more development between Beau and Caden before we got to the sex scene between them, but the leads made it work. I was expecting some kind of flashforward with Beau and Caden in a more settled relationship. I was surprised they didn't do it that way. I did like that the ending was sweet and hopeful.

Lovely little movie
pierce-mn110 May 2020
The story is lovely and very heartfelt. The husband's character needs some better writing. It's frustrating to watch what he's going through and his lines tend to be repetitious, but overall, it's a nice movie.

An awkward watch, but there's a lot to like here too.

Warning: Spoilers
It was an interesting premise but I never completely bought into the whole thing. Given more time to explore the relationships it might have seemed more plausible, but what can you do in a 90 minute film?

I also found Lily's death very sudden and quite jarring. I felt there was more to be said before she died. One minute she was relatively well and then in the next scene she was gone.

It's a shame, because all the relationships were really interesting and the acting was good too, just not believable to me.

Not a good movie - Not a bad movie
cekadah10 April 2021
It's just an OK movie!

Here's the plot - Beau's wife Lily gets knocked off by cancer (we never see her suffer from the extensive medical treatments). Lily's brother. Caden moves in with Beau & Lily while she's dieing. Beau is attracted to Caden and Caden is attracted to Beau. Lily is fine with this as it makes them happy. After Lily drops dead Beau gets all confused about his feeings and rejects Caden. Beau then wants Caden to return but nothing is truly settled in Beau's mind. The end!

The best part of this flick is that Beau is easy on the eyes!

Rare scenario well explored
danieljgreene26 May 2019
I might give this movie seven stars but I have to give it one more star for uniqueness. I've never seen a movie with such a premise, and I think they handled it really well. You could feel the chemistry between all of the characters, they were well-developed, and their relationships had interesting transformations.

Great film
etiennestories15 April 2020
This is one of those stories that when viewed on paper, shouldn't have worked, but in the case of this film, it worked quite well. Credit goes to the actors involved, especially the female lead. She was totally convincing. Eight stars well earned.

Distasteful rubbish.
AndreanDatura1 March 2021
Disrespectful to the subject of cancer with a clear agenda from the makers of this appalling movie. Beggars belief what the writers were thinking in creating such utter drivel.

Fantastic Movie!!!
cindersmokes14 October 2019
I absolutely loved it. The characters were all great. How could you NOT love Caden. He was sweet, vulnerable, honest and exuded strength through it all. He was the backbone. Lily was awesome for wanting and accepting something so taboo. It was well written, fantastically cast, and all around well done. I thought Senastian by James Finizza was good but this was everything. Bravo. I have watched it 3 times and my first time was last night.

Unconventional, to say the least
robtyrrell-9860725 April 2020
OK, it's a very unusual subject. Some people may easily find the whole movie ridiculous beyond belief.

But if you can open your mind to just listening to the characters and trying to empathize with what it might be like to be in their situation, you might learn something. And even if you can't, the writing has some very good moments; there are some truly good lines. :-)

In all, this wasn't the worst way to spend an hour and a half. Better this than watching "Burlesque", to be sure.

Amazing indie film
numberone_111 April 2020
A very good independent film definitely worth watching. All three leads were outstanding, and I found myself never taking my eyes off them. Settings take a back seat to dialogue and an at-first-somewhat-seemingly-preposterous premise, well-written and thoughtful (Stewart Wade excels with his writing and direction). That dialogue is key, so hang on to every word by all three leads, be alert to cadences, pitch, tone, and nonverbal communication that comes from them. This is not just "another indie gay film"; it's making an extraordinarily powerful statement about socialization. Patrick Zeller as Beau is amazing, in showing us bit by bit how Beau evolves and is challenged by his norms. In some regard Zeller may have had the most difficult assignment here, portraying how Beau's known worlds and conventions are challenged and the difficulties he has in reconciling his own evolution. Paul Mascua as Caden is excellent as a free spirit who knows himself thoroughly. Leah McKendrick is unparalleled as Lily, conveying the journey of her character with such power. Kudos also to Shari Belafonte and Alexandra Paul for their excellence in minor roles and in being a part of Say Yes; I can only imagine how many scripts they have seen in throughout their careers, and I would like to think that their participation stemmed from their recognizing and participating in a unique gem of an indie.

Really loved this film - a piece of art
billy_dana23 July 2019
Haven't seen a little indie like this that I've enjoyed this much in a long time. Kudos to: 1) Great acting 2) Great writing 3) A very interesting plot/story 4) The organic feel of the evolution of the story and characters.

I'm particularly in love with the character of Lily (Leah McKendrick) - she is outstanding. Both of the male characters, Beau (Patrick Zeller) and Caden (Matt Pascua) are excellent, but Lily steals the movie.

If I had anything to grouse about it would be that the story seems a little contrived at points (even with the organic feel I mentioned earlier), especially with the direction of the relationship between Beau and Caden. But hey, with Lily's force of personality and the central struggle of the story I bought it the first time through, so it works.

It could also be a little tighter in terms of directing. Otherwise it's a gem and one of the best gay films of the last several years. Thank you Stewart Wade, thank you actors one and all - really appreciate this work.

Endearing Charmer with Great Cast!!!
ohlabtechguy19 January 2021
Nobody should care if the unique plot in this movie is a bit far fetched. The script, acting, cast and production values made up for it at every turn. Though the subject of the movie, terminal cancer, is morbid, the movie was more charming than sad. Beau, the husband of dying Lily, possesses a handsome, wholesome manliness all wrapped up with sensitivity, kindness and sexiness, that any self-respecting gay guy would wish they had a similar hubby. Happy ending....loved it!!!! Need to see more like it!!!

Good Movie Based in Love and Not Gender!
javierubio20 November 2020
What I liked about this film was that has a message and to be specific, this message is summarized when the sick wife talks with his partner about Stigmas and what is defined by Love and hetero sexual behaviors. For me it was just the beginning to open a big hope to understand that Love does not distinguish gender or orientation but only unconditional attachment for one to the other! Acting was ok (Not the best) but What the Director wanted to show was primarily met on this movie! Congratulations! I enjoyed it!

I needed to watch it again
abfabjb7 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie and needed to watch it again. There were some things that didn't seem plausible or ring true the first time around, and although the acting and character development was good, some things didn't sit right with me. How can a guy in his 30s who is married to a woman, and in this day and age, decide to flip the switch?

But when I watched it again, the writers, actors & director, really laid out the framework to make this movie, and this idea-which I don't believe has been taken on in movie form-into something modern. The fact that two of the three main characters were twins really makes the premise of this movie work. Lily & Caden are atheists, they are free spirits, and both of them don't believe in labels or defined sexual norms. One of the ideas they talk about is if societal pressures were stripped away, could you have a loving sexual relationship with the same sex.

For a guy to change his sexuality in his 30s is a stretch, but many have feelings bubbling under that perhaps they've never explored, and if extreme circumstances arise, could this really happen? Lily's prognosis leads Beau to eventually come to terms with changing his idea of what's normal to what's possible. And it is possible, we just don't talk about it, especially in the movies. So I liked this because I've never seen anything like it, and it made me think.

So if you have an open mind, watch this movie, then watch it again to understand where the creators were coming from.

I really enjoyed this movie. The characters were well written and the plot moved along nicely. I really would love to see a sequel. How did they go forward building a life together?

I was a bit late in coming to the party, but I'm so glad I found this amazing film.
becomingwilkinson7 November 2022
I was totally blown away by this film. It made me think, it made me cry, it made me laugh, and it made me feel (deeply).

I'm not one to watch anything multiple times, but this one did it! I discovered this gem last week, and I've already invited friends to come and watch it with me a couple times.

I thought the acting was spot-on by all three main characters. The writing was amazing and I found it true-to-life in many ways.

Many folks may find the plot totally unrealistic. I'm not one of them. I've been on a couple hosting sites over the years, and have personally hosted over 700 international travelers in my homes. The so-called "free spirits" of Lily and Caden are not that unusual but rather more typical in this generation. They are truly able to love another for who they are, regardless of sexual "equipment".

I loved how Beau's character was developed. What I haven't read in reviews of this film is what very realistically could be going on within him on a spiritual and an energetic level. Has anyone seen the 1971 movie "Summer of '42"? It's about a teen boy who falls for an older woman. Her husband is in the war and she's notified he's been killed. She and the young man come together. His dream situation is happening while she's remembering and connecting to her lost love.

In Say Yes, Beau has gradually fallen in love with Caden because of who he is. And part of who Caden is, is his energetic connection to Lily.

This is a wonderful film, beautifully written by a man who knows life and perfectly played out by three talented actors, each with an uncanny ability to get into the skin of their characters and absolutely shine in the process.

In a world thinking outside the box
bgoo-198901 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am just a gay man with no talent ,just an opinion.

This is one of those movies that being told the story. You would dismiss the whole premise of the story. This is a case where the actors made the story believable. Matt Pascua who's talents match his handsome, sexy looks.. Playing the "Pan Sexual " brother of a terminally ill woman. Who's sister wants him,and her soon to be widowed husband. To form a supportive, loving and sexual relationship. Prior to this the husband played by. Patrick Zellar. Had never had even a thought of a same sex,gay relationship with anyone. Leah McKendrick plays the terminally ill wife who conspires to leave the two men she loves. Through the course of the movie Patrick Zellar's character explores feelings he had ignored before. Encouraged by Matt Pascua character.

A touching and tender must watch!

Beautiful
mnorth196413 December 2021
The trailer was recommended to me on Youtube, so i sought it, found it and totally loved it. Sometimes, you see a movie and the production values aren't amazing. No special affects, no big budget famous names and fancy locations and yet it works, and it works extremely well. What really helps is the dynamite performances from the three leads that play Beau, Caden and Lily. They are real - one moment I was laughing out loud and then the next I'm in tears. That's a winner in my books. The story is genuinely beautiful. Performances excellent and the script is finely tuned. I gave it 9/10.

Possibly the best LGBTQ movie for me
Lewzopowers8 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I don't watch many gay films but this one really impressed me!! It's included on amazon prime now if you have amazon prime and not want to know too much details here.

Sorry for the spoiler, your choice if you want to keep reading. I've seen some films about 'c' (I hate that word, so I used C instead) and choosing not to go ahead with treatment and decided to make the most of it. But I gotta admit this was different, even I was surprised. But again, it kinda makes sense in a weird way eventually and incredibly nice. Although some people might not be impressed or understand about the moment they had sex, but sometimes when people lost their mind or lost someone, they do thing they regret even if it's small. I've almost done worse.

The storyline was beautiful, great scripts, good actors. I even cried a little!! Haha

An Excellent Surprise
Iceberg76-583-64501227 April 2020
I wasn't sure about this film when I came across it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is well acted and written and something I don't see in a lot of Indie films. I wish this film was available for purchase as I would like to add this to my collection. If you haven't seen it yet, stop reading this and put it on. You won't regret it.

Say "Yes" to the Unconventional
clearwoodlouis25 November 2021
A simple, sensitively written and filmed romantic story that follows three close knit people, a wife, her husband, and her twin brother as they cope with Lily's high-stage cancer. The wife, Lily, and her brother, Caden, are very unconventional while the husband, Beau, is very conventional. Beau and Caden take special care of Lily as she battles cancer, and Lily tries to provide for Beau and Caden's happiness if she should lose her battle with cancer. Beau and Caden's care of Lily is conventional, while her plans for Beau and Caden are not conventional: that they become life partners to each other. The screenplay is very good and believable. The acting is well done: you become endeared to all the characters. This is a film you may watch again and again.

Great and Awesome Movie
dnicholsrn1 April 2024
I watched this movie yesterday. Being gay and informed last year that i had Prostate Cancer....it touched me in many ways. I have never seen a movie like this. The movie is great and the actors were the greatest. Being alone as a gay man after years caring for humans as an RN.... I ....do not even know what to say. I can say...nursing was not my passion ...I was given a God given talent...yet...was told..."You need something to fall back on".....and that is the story. I feel you can love and care and the sexual part is just that "A Part". I loved this movie. I would love to have people in my life like these actors.
