Columbus did absolutely nothing whatsoever to the Native Americans. He never set foot on North America, so it was not in fact possible to persecute or slaughter people he never met, saw, or knew existed.
Columbus landed in the West Indies (the clue being that that's the place he named; because he thought he'd got to India (although it would have been east India he'd have got to going that way)) and brutally quashed "rebellions" when the native people of the Caribbean, Central, and South America didn't immediately bow to Spanish rule. He and his sailors also introduced disease to which the indigenous people had no immunity, which wiped out whole tribes.
But he never did anything to the American Indians, that was all the Pilgrims.
