contemporary minds,asynchronous lust
ravindratalkies29 December 2020
What to look for? some superb performance and some beautifully pictured intimate scene..? In Corpore has promising plot but lacks in depth. four stories, which are narrated individually one after another includes love, lust, family values , infidelity and emotions. relationship sours not only when infidelity occurs, but also when one's urge to achieve personal goal, and whatever the modern open mind we had, finally emotion and possessiveness rules- these things are neatly explained. if You used to watch these kind of movies, It's Ok for You, otherwise, You might get bored. 6 out of 10 is my score, and watch count yours.

Interesting

Warning: Spoilers
In Corpore is "a sensual, sex-positive exploration of contemporary relationships, shown through four anthological stories set in Melbourne, Berlin, Malta and New York." It's all about relationships, specifically what happens when love gives way to lust and commitment deals with infidelity.

Directed by Sarah Jayne and Ivan Malekin, this Australian film tells the stories of four couples who must deal with the consequences of suppressing desire or throwing caution to the wind. They made this movie when they were newly married as a way to openly discuss the definition of marriage and the boundaries of relationships.

I've never seen a sex-positive anthology before, so there you go. It's a pretty interesting film that shows that no matter the label on a relationship, we often find ourselves dealing with the same issues. While there's plenty of nudity and love making scenes, this isn't explicit, if that's a concern. It will, however, make you question the ways that we use love and sex in our lives and with the ones that are part of them.

Anthology - noun: "lacking the talent needed to produce a full-length movie."
Angry_Santa8 February 2021
This lacklustre collection appears to be more an opportunistic grab to travel the world creating a sequence of short stories with precisely zero consequence. Each attempts (rather pathetically, I must add) to portray drama and conflict, but each fails miserably.

Acting is for the most part mediocre, but it's difficult to tell if it was entirely the actors' fault or if more of the blame should lay with the script and direction. The inclusion of graphic sex scenes did precisely nothing to add to the worth of each story - maybe it was just an attempt to bring pubescent teenagers into the viewership?

If you have nothing better to do and you've already watched every other movie known to mankind, it might be worth a viewing - but be warned, you'll be reaching for the fast-forward button VERY frequently.

Beautifully raw film
kendramcnulty8 May 2021
A beautifully raw film that accurately captures the complexities and complications that arise in romantic relationships. In Corpore specifically explores these challenges through the themes of love, sex and infidelity through the tales of three different partnerships. As a young woman, this film deeply resonated with me. Whether or not we can admit this openly, we all have experienced a certain degree of turmoil in our relationships that consequently altered how way we felt about our partners and ourselves.

Superb acting overall. Each actor was beautifully grounded and convincing. Brava to the four actresses for being so raw and vulnerable in telling these young women's stories. I empathized with them EVERY second of the way. I especially enjoyed Clara Francesca's portrayal of Julia. Without giving too much away, she does an incredible job at playing an objectively flawed and polarized character with such humanity and relatability. Not an easy thing to do.

If you want a slice of real life, watch In Corpore.

A classic feel
This film took me back to my youth, 4 tales that were very relatable in your prime, love fidelity family future all rolled into this film. It also transported me to the 80's with that late night sbs feel with the multicultural mix and subtitles. I will say I was a bit iffy at the start but then it just evolved and drew you in. I enjoyed the film, it's not a Hollywood blockbuster but it is an original and you can see the effort of the cast and crew in it. My rating is high because Aussies make films that are different to the main stream and they have something other than $$$ behind them, it's called passion!!!!

Four fascinating storylines

Enjoyed this very sensual film. I won't give away any spoilers (usually I love to reveal a spoiler or two, but I'm going to try something new here, so please please please bare with me). This film is definitely worth the time to stream and see it all go down for yourself. Might even watch it a second time soon to make sure I didn't miss anything! Great acting, writing, direction over four very enjoyable and unique storylines.

Great work beautifully casted, awesome actors - and puts one off monogamous jealousy once and for all
OneSentenceReview24 June 2021
One might think some stories are a bit over the top, but well, life might sometimes have even been weirder, we just don't see it later on film. So again, really awsome acting, bravo, because bear in mind it's apparently all improvised when I read some info correctly, or at least like in a theather, one-go-one-shot.

Shows how forced exclusivity and jealousy disturb/corrode/kill relationships which otherwise could turn out well, if feelings like fear of loss, the wish to control a partners feelings, possessiveness etc wouldnt be so prevalent (and shockingly acepted) in the regular, (serial-)monogamous society (just look at divorce rates, which can be counted..what might be the average "breakup rate"?).

And some stories of the collection also show how difficult it can be to adapt/live/love Polyamory for people new to the matter (hint, not a spoiler: 1st is the prelude for the last story)

Also definetly a film to watch with your partner(s) - if you're brave enough, as it could initiate thoughts and hopefully contructive conversations ;)
