When Adam Canuck Zimmerman first pitched the idea for Not the Same (2018) to Damian Lloyd it was going to be a story about a plucky group of rebels trying to destroy a space station, with a production budget of around 43.5 million dollars. Being intelligent filmmakers and historians, they realized that idea would never work so they scrapped it for something smaller and more intimate.
Although the story and characters for the movie are completely written, all of the dialogue was improvised. This includes thirteen musical numbers that were made up and performed on the spot, but left on the cutting room carpet* because according to producer Trayce Zimmerman "This isn't goddamn Xanadu (1980)."
-The producers spent a lot of money making sure that every surface in their edit suite was covered in carpet, and it's important that everyone knows it.

Ideas that were considered and discarded for being "too Hollywood" were a bicycle chase, setting the first half of the movie in the city and the second half on a quiet farm, a potted plant, a dance off, a dark room where the floor is actually water, and a pirate botanist.
Not the Same (2018) all takes place within 24 hours, following in the footsteps as such films as Dredd (2012), Cloverfield (2008), and Escape from New York (1981).
This is an unauthorized and unofficial addition to Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking place in between Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)] and Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
