After almost 15 years working primarily with Adventure Game Studio (AGS) engine, this is the first game Lovegrove has made using Unity.
Lovegrove has stated that he had intended to make a 3D racing game since the mid-90's, with Dumbass Drivers! being the first proper (and viable) attempt.
Celebrity phone calls from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Jackson, Stewie and Brian Griffin were created from internet "Sound Boards".
All voice lines spoken by the driver "Lynsey" during phone calls are recycled Susan Ashworth recordings from the 2012 video-game "The Cat Lady". The driver "Lynsey" is a self-referential nod to Lynsey Frost, the voice actress whom Lovegrove cast for the role of Susan Ashworth in "The Cat Lady".
