Klepper is good until he hits a subject he clearly knows nothing about
VoyagerMN198620 October 2017
I enjoy Klepper but this has to be his worst work by far.

Firstly he spends an entire hour on gun control and does no mention once, not once, the central and core trend, which is that US gun homicide rate has been declining for a decade and fallen by 62% since the early 1990's? or that accidental gun death rate has also fallen by about that much? Secondly he repeatedly claims only a tiny fraction of gun control advocates want to ban guns, when in fact every single gun control lobby group, all of Bloomberg's various groups (Everytown, etc), as well as Brady Campaign, and Violence Policy Center, all -- every one -- supported DC in DC v heller, which was about jurisdiction being able to completely ban them? Thirdly not one mention of the fact that the US rate of murder of non criminals is lower than the EU average, Canada and Australia? The entire elevation of US homicide rates is criminals killing criminals, over 92% of US homicide. if you are not a criminal you are safer in the US than virtually any developed democracy Fourthly he paints the NRA as somehow unpopular and not representative? NRA is not only by far the largest paid membership civil rights/liberties group in the US, it is running a 58% approval rating among all Americans in the latest gallup (google NRA gallup approvals).

Fifthly he uses a number for "fatal gun violence" that is a combination of suicide (2/3 of his number) and homicide by gun. Yet does not look at US overall suicide plus homicide compared to other countries' overall suicide plus homicide rates. Dozens of developed democracies have higher suicide plus homicide rates, S. Korea is nearly double that of the US, Japan about 50% higher.

Lastly he says the majority of Americans just want "universal background checks" for people who want to keep and bear arms. Yet in fact he himself then supports a test of a "good reason' to do so, meaning he is sneaking in a condition that ends up disqualifying 90% of people who do pass background checks.

Great documentary to watch

I live in Europe (Romania) and for me gun violence is sci-fi because you can't buy guns and also, nobody is killed by guns.. it isn't happening in Europe. We have traffic accidents and other sad events, but not this... This is a great documentary. Keep up the good work Jordan Klepper.

Gun Owners Need New Hobbies

It's never too late to take up the piano, seriously. OK, I'm not going to lie to you, it's going to be an uphill battle and you'll never, ever be very good. However, I've read that learning to play a musical instrument or learn a second language is a great way to fend off dementia. The brain is like a muscle that needs to be exercised daily. If not, you'll end up as a brain-dead moron in a militia.

Maybe you could take a cooking class? After all, you have to eat every day and it's better to eat good food than the atrocious slop you are shoveling into your fat gob.

Perhaps fashion design is what you are really cut out for instead of prancing around in camouflage wielding an assault rifle to mask your perceived inadequacies as a man. If you'd rather design ladies formal wear, don't let your boyfriends in the militia tell you that you can't. As soon as you have the print for your first gown, I bet all of those tobacco-chewing oafs with be crawling over each other to get a copy and have one sewn for them to wear to the militia formal. Think of how proud your parents will be.

Worse bias than a Michael Moore documentary
dominicwillett25 August 2023
Being open and honest I do own multiple guns, I am not a militia member, and to address a low rent reviewer that stated gun owners need "x", I do speak other languages and have played a few musical instruments well.

A lot of factual data is left out, including data that would both help the gun control argument and hurt it. It's a decisive issue and is not easily remedied which begs the question why an 'ok' comedian thinks he solved it in less than an hour. No matter your view, you will not gain anything new by watching this. I think he wanted to just see his name in a title and used an issue that gains the most headlines. Next he will solve the pro-life vs pro-choice debate in 50 minutes or less.

Unbearable

I watched maybe 2-3 minutes of it, then the bias of this guy came through. I haven't watched him before, so I didn't know what to expect. I hoped for a balanced piece on both sides of the discussion, but that went out of the window when he said Trump supported the second amendment but not the first.

Granted, I have lived through three years of Biden, and I don't expect him to foresee how bad it would get, but that was when I turned it off and unsubscribed from that channel where I found him. I wonder why he thinks Trump is against the first amendment. Is it the famous(ly distorted) quote about fake news (not the press) being the enemy of the people? He was probably asleep at the wheel when the press and social media started sabotaging 1A via censorship.

After that, I cannot take anything he says seriously. My guess is that he's ok with some people having guns, but not all, which would make it a privilege and not a right. He depicted America as the most dangerous place because of guns. You know where I feel safest? At the gun range. You know where I feel the least safe? In known "gun free" zones.

If this guy had wanted to come across as balanced, he shouldn't have started the way he did. That is the intro of a gun-grabbing liberal, not a fact-based journalist. At least Beto was honest about his intentions.
