"Spiders will eat your face" is a documentary dealing with the questions how tarantulas became a popular pet animal in the United States and why so many people still see them as a threat rather than a harmless creature. The documentary parts are repeatedly interrupted by comical sequences.
I do love the humor of this filmmaker and there were several points throughout the movie where I couldn't help but laugh because of the way he presented his information, which is a good thing. However, at times it can be a bit confusing having to switch time and again from serious talk to comedy parts. All in all you just see that the film was produced by an amateur through the shaky cam, the long and complicated questions that become monologues sometimes and the fact that key interviews were only lead over phone. Still it is a serious attempt and I appreciate the heart and work that went into the film.
All in all this is an entertaining possibility to inform yourself about the topic, however it is not a professional documentary and is lacking a bit of expertise at many points.
