Nicolas Cage, Ned Dennehy, and Andrea Riseborough in Mandy (2018)

Goofs

Mandy

Edit

Continuity

When Mandy is reading in the shop, the book is open on the same page as earlier, but this time she is reading the left page. Earlier she was reading the page on the right.
Mandy is reading her book on the bed with her legs crossed with her right foot slightly under her left thigh then at 17'46", her left foot is seen flat on the blanket in the background.
At 1:47'07", Mother Marlene's mouth is shut then slightly open in the next shot.

Factual errors

When Nic Cage's character turns to his forge to construct his revenge weapon the metal he pours is aluminium yet when he puts it on the anvil it's miraculously turned to steel.
The trees have to be transported by land, so there is no reason for the forestry company to spend a lot of money in commuting their workers by helicopter.
The fire could not have left an "empty" mummified face.
All terrain quad bikes do not get stuck in small mud puddles.
The pipe cannot turn as much and so easily on itself as there is some traction force (pulling) by the handcuff on Red's wrist.

Revealing mistakes

When Red wakes up chained to the pipe, there are two small stains on the camera lens on the left side of the screen.
Lucy easily removes the ropes from Mandy's mouth without having to untie them though they were clearly very tight between her upper teeth and jaw.
When Red is stabbed, the blade finds no resistance at all going through the fabric and the skin, as if pushed through butter. It should have pushed the abdominal wall in, pierced it and violently enter the abdominal cavity.
At 1:26'17", Red obviously wears eye contacts to fake dilated pupils.
Brother Swan is still moving after having been impaled through the brain stem or the upper spinal cord.

Anachronisms

When Mandy is reading her book she has a Series 2009 one dollar bill as a bookmark. The story takes place in the early 1980s.
Calling an overly sensitive person a Snowflake was unheard of in 1983. It was coined in 1996 from the novel Fight Club and made popular during the 2016 election.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

When Red is stabbed, the blade sounds like metal on metal contact but it is of course metal on flesh and fabric.
At 1:46'30, Mother Marlene is heard breathing heavily through the mouth but the exact same sounds continue after she closes her mouth and breathes through her noes.

Plot holes

It is not explained how Red's large and deep blade wound to the abdomen healed on its own without requiring life-saving time-critical surgery.
Red survives for hours with a large and deep bleeding abdominal open wound.

Character error

At 1:05', Red can bend and get up with ease despite having been stabbed in the flank. Later, in the bathroom, he will also yell (using his abdominal muscles) without showing any discomfort from his belly.
Sand tells Red that he has no soul, no spirit, no brain; that he is an animal; animals have brains.
Mandy tells the shopper "it's five bucks" without verifying the items and their prices. It is quite surprising that the sum totals exactly 5 dollars.
