As a parent, I found this to be a difficult movie to watch at times. Hollie Lewis did an excellent job of portraying a grieving mother, the emotion she showed seemed fitting and accurate. Some of the other acting, of different characters was not quite so believable, but overall, this is a movie worth watching.
And, even though I would occasionally skip forward a bit, found the movie touching. It's all about finding your purpose and dealing with big time emotions of despair and melancholy. Then there is the technique of having everything in the story connect someway, somehow. And the acting in my humble opinion was superb - 6.5.
A very dark tale that effectively takes the conventions of the revenge thriller genre and molds them in a unique way. These elements culminate in a bold and emotional study of grieve and the devastating actions it can lead too. Well worth your time!
The story is raw and complex, complemented by a great performance from the lead actress. The actors carried the film from beginning to end and the directing really immersed me in the atmosphere of the film. The editing tells the story effectively, as well. Overall, it's a deeper story and if you're wanting to experience a bold, original portrait of loss and a new journey, this might be the film for you.
Impressive cerebral stream of consciousness indie movie from first time feature director Alex Klaus. Believable and often raw emotional performances from his talented cast kept the intricate plot (pay attention!) well anchored within a subtly dark soundtrack that had me thinking of David Lynch, a few of the shots as well. I'll be interested to see where this gifted director goes next.
