Rellik has been going further back in time with each new episode so this is the moment that you dread as we figure this is the episode where Markham will have the acid attack.

We see Markham in the aftermath of the attack leaving hospital with a plastic mask, we go further back when he is in agony in hospital and his wife tells Markham that Hannah is not his daughter. Hannah meanwhile plays music to help her dad recover. Markham's boss Benton visits him in hospital with not exactly cheery words at the bedside and a warning.

We then see Markham before the attack, before his face was damaged. He is handsome, happy and with a swagger at the police station unlike the angry, bitter and pained person we have seen so far. He is leading the investigation to these attacks but loses his rag at a press conference when a body is dumped near the police station and calls the killer names.

In the night of the attack Markham has made arrangements to meet Shepard, his fellow officer and a bit on the side at a police safe house in a block of flats only to find Benton having a squalid fling with a prostitute. A prostitute we had earlier seen being killed. When Markham has acid thrown on him, I seems the prostitute saw the attacker and Shepard is quickly on the scene.

One thing I have noticed whereas Markham's wife has been horrid and distant towards him which might be to do with his affair, Shepard has always stuck by Markham, despite his disfigurement she still wants to be with him, a sign of true love perhaps.

We also learned more about Shepard in this episode, we sensed in the first episode she was not sad that her father died. Here we see her visiting him in prison, he murdered her mother and seems not too remorseful about it. Her father was a chemistry teacher and given she was so quickly in the scene it makes me doubt whether Markham was attacked by the acid killer but someone more closer to him.

We also get more context with Christine confessing to be the acid killer at her therapy session as she was winding up the weird psychiatrist Isaac who appears to be aroused by the talk of the killings.

Whereas the previous episode saw how the concept of Rellik could work well with the Barkers family shenanigans, here you just get the feeling the plot did not advance too much and we got fillers again about the Markham's personal life.
