What a finale!
mehmet-genc1 June 2018
I don't think many people would disagree with me when I say this was the best season finale so far and one of the best season finales, ever. In the last several episodes the show has been coming full circle and finally some old questions are finally being answered. Of course, in usual Blacklist fashion, more questions are raised than answered. Still, this was an excellent finale, and one of the best episodes in the series so far.

First in a long time - a finale that doesn't insult your intelligence.
razvan-rogoz19 May 2017
How do you make the difference between a good movie and a good business in the form of a movie? Well, this is a good question to ask regarding the Blacklist. It is designed to make you come back. It always builds tension and ends with something to make you come back. This is why, most people gave up on the show. The first season was purely wonderful but then, it became just a never ending cycle of question and answer, extremely formulaic in nature, losing most of its magic.

Well, the season finale, this one, was different. It answered most questions. It tied most loose ends. Even if it created the set-up for a new season, the theme and hook is very well implied. It is the first time this movie has come full circle, where all chapters are finished in a long, long time. So while the other season finales felt anti-climatic, this felt strangely satisfying. In ten minutes, it solved 12 months of plot points even if it raised new ones.

Watch it. Even if you have gave up on the show long time ago, this can be considered a real ending. Yes, there is always going to be something new and they'll never live happily ever after. Don't even expect that. However, for some finality, it worked wonderfully well.

I just hope that they'll return eventually to the quality found in season 1. It was a season full of grey areas, philosophical aphorisms, amazing acting, spectacular monologues and set pieces scenes. Now … it feels generic as hell. I guess they've never expected to have a season 2 so they've gave it their best in season 1. However, once the show became successful, they've simply tried to milk it as much as possible. In any case, one of the best season finales yet.

So Sophisticated and Intelligent
Hitchcoc21 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If one can overlook the gratuitous violence which does bother me at times. In addition to the 86 in the hockey rink, there are thousands from collateral damage. Who are these guys who give up everything for these cruds? If one can do that, we have the beautiful interweaving of character, plot, and mystery. Sometimes it's hard to know who is who, but Reddington does his little narratives. Here, virtually everyone ends up with questions answered. I know some might think that Mr. Kaplan's suicide is unsatisfying, but there was little choice when there was no way out. We still have a suitcase in the hands of Tom (I wondered where he had been lately). That's for Season 5. But after the satisfying events, comes the least interesting: Elizabeth and who her father is. Talk about anticlimactic. It will be interested to see how this all plays out. Any way, it's a good ride.

Closure on many levels
foamythefearsome3 October 2022
The story arc with Mr Kaplan has been an emotional rollercoaster because it was easy to sympathize with her despite being the antagonist. It has felt bitter for these past few episodes, but it made them all the more powerful.

This finale gives us a lot of details about a variety of events that have been the topic of this season, as well as info we've been waiting for for multiple seasons already; answers we've wanted for so long. We lose characters, some of which I loved having around, some of which I 'loved to hate'. We get closure for other characters' story arcs.

But it also poses new questions and makes a transition into the next season with a new mystery to unravel. Definitely not out of steam yet.

What is up with this guy. It's like I'm watching a young Robert De Niro but in a bad way. It is sooooo bad. The worst part of the whole show.

Concierge of crime? What?
tert7212 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
To be given the nickname, concierge of crime, I would think you would have to be good, but once again the writers became lazy. What criminal, that's as smart and brilliant as Reddington, would have ALLLLL his eggs in one basket? Even that he trusted Kate with everything, a master mind, brilliant criminal would have a 100 contingencies. And yet 1 person brought down his empire where numerous others have tried and failed..and red's biggest secret, are you telling me that he didn't think to grab that??????..... Just have to throw my BS flag on that.

It Took 4 Seasons To Get This Out???
noonieblount1 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It took 4 seasons for them to reveal Red is Lizzy's father???? Wow!!! We all knew that from the beginning...Season 1. The writers dragged this specific reveal of the relationship between Red and Lizzy out for far too long. The cons I have with this episode and a few previous episodes is I do not agree with how they made Mr. Kaplan out to be a bad person. What would y'all do if someone shot you in the face...forgive them? I think not. It also bothers me that so many people are intimidated by Reddington. And how is it that other agencies have no clue that he's working for the FBI? Come on now, as many times as he has shown up a crime scenes, stakeouts, etc. All Agent Gale had to do is leak it to one of the newspapers. Unfortunately, Baz is shot and not sure if he survived. But of course with the way the series writers are, a character can be shot, stabbed, strangled and heal like they're freaking Wolverine from the X-Men. The two good things about this episode is 1) Hitchens finally got what she deserved and 2) Mr. Kaplan trusted Tom enough to give Tom the evidence. Hopefully, it won't take another 4 seasons for them to reveal exactly who is in the suitcase.
