Close to opening a rift into the Apocalyptic World, Sam and Dean search for the last missing ingredient. They wind up at a black market for religious relics, where they discover that things are not what they seem.

Sam and Dean are close to collecting everything they need to open a rift into the Apocalyptic World and possibly rescuing Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) and Jack. The one missing ingredient leads the Winchesters to a black market for religious relics where everything is not always as it seems.—Emily Reddom

The brothers are aware they need to collect four rare items to complete the spell, open a door to an alternative world, then save Jack and their Mother. The episode is a portrayal of film noir as their westcoast travels run into multiple signature film elements and caricatures of the genre while attempting to locate one of the items. Additionally Dean gets yet another opportunity to recenter, or at least redirect his faith while Sam gets knocked unconscious enough times to put him in concussion protocol.—Kenneth Gillissie
