Listen to the Light: THe Making of 'Brain Damage' (2017)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Actor Rick Herbst, editor James Kwei, visual effects supervisor Al Magliochetti, make-up artist Dan Frye, assistant director Gregory Lamberson and producer Edgar Ievins are interviewed for this fifty-six minute documentary that takes a look at the cult shocker BRAIN DAMAGE. If you're a fan of the movie then you'll certainly enjoy this well-made and highly entertaining documentary that covers a lot of aspects. There are countless highlights here but I'd say that the greatest thing about this is the fact that it gives you a great idea of what it was like making a low-budget movie back in the day. Not only do you get a great idea of that but also the benefits of shooting in New York City and why the city could often help that small budget. We get some nice stories about the casting as well as plenty of great ones about the special effects and of course the creation of the parasite. Everyone interviewed are highly entertaining and they certainly make this a must see for fans.
