It is worth the historical context.

The film has a good premise (I did not know the history of Dantas and its List) and in this question ends up having its merit. However, the script too didactic, square and the performances and production of novels took all the brilliance that the narrative deserved. It has good inserts of scenes of the time, interesting testimonies and some very few critics to the government of Getúlio Vargas that, for general knowledge, end up working to demystify a little its exaggerated popularity (for those who do not know much about the period of its government and its characteristics) and the role of the French government during the Nazi occupation.

Documentary+fixtion => one is not enough, the other seems a soap opera

A film in the border between fiction and documentary. The fictional part has nice footage and good interviews but does not fit well in the movie. The fictional part is not very acted/directed and dialogs are extremely artificial. Soundtrack is cheesy and, together with the mentioned poor dialogs, build a problematic atmosphere of a soap opera.

It's so bad, it's embarrassing!

Think about a bad movie: this is it! Although the plot is interesting, the script is bad and dialogues are poor. Most actors (including the main character) are not convincing and the direction is amateurish. A good story badly told.
