- We follow the Delaware County 11 on 11 and 7 on 7 Special Olympics soccer teams as the athletes grew and developed toward their ultimate goal of winning a gold medal at the Villanova Fall Festival while explaining what it is like to live like them.
- Every year Villanova University hosts one of the largest Special Olympics competitions in the nation. Athletes from all across Pennsylvania come to compete in their prospective sports during one special weekend. "Gold Mettle" follows Delaware County's 11 on 11 and 7 on 7 soccer teams, as they attempt to garner success during the weekend. Through the film, the audience gets the opportunity to watch the team grow and develop towards their ultimate goal, of winning a gold medal. As the athletes face many challenges whether it be personal, familial, or societal, it is in learning about each athlete, the audience will discover just how resilient they are. Although "Gold Mettle" explores the success of Delaware county's soccer teams, it is more the story of a group of athletes who come together to achieve something greater than themselves. The film hopes to inspire audiences to reach deep within themselves, to achieve something that goes beyond the individual.
