- Thuff, silent Barcelona commissioner Xavi Bonet, son of a PR-obsessed mayoral candidate, is hardly impressed by his would be-cocky new partner, single mother Fina Valent, whose rash risks get her presented in handcuffs. When she fails to talk her teen brat daughter out of consorting with a hunky pimp, Xavi scares him off the hard way. Their first, apparently unrelated cases are the beach mugging of fake amnesiac Miguel Soler and knife-murders of Pakistani immigrant Arsalan Qureshi, whose blood traces to his shifty brother Sameer, who left him dying in front of the mosque, and of junkie-harlot Tonia, who was dumped in her 'home'. As Xavi predicted, all major crime relates to tycoon and Catalan mob king El Tauró (Catalan for 'shark'), from drug and human trafficking plus pimping to real estate fraud. Xavi fears blackmail as he's photographed kissing unguided party animal Antoni. Hard-handed henchman Gerard links trails to Tauro's 'granny lieutenant' Izar, who kidnap and torture Sameer, like his brother a "Latero", illegal (beer) salesman, having tricked them from harmless contraband to drugs behind the boss's back, keeping his just-smuggled-in family hostage. Xavi must hastily try unravel it all and deal with a mole in time to prevent as many deaths as possible.—KGF Vissers
