Almost worth recommending

Ruthless emperor abuses the residents of a small border town, ultimately killing a man. Adopting the name Blue Butterfly, because of her blue robes (or, depending on which cut of this film you watch, Butterfly Of Ching, from the name of her town (which makes a lot more sense than one of this film's several different alternative titles, Blue Butterfly the Amazon) ) , dead man's daughter trains in martial arts to protect the townspeople, tracks down the emperor, and fights him to the death.

Very colourful South Korean martial arts flick, with some good choreography during fight sequences, but, aside from the heroine herself, and the setting, there is little to distinguish this from any other revenge stories. If you happen upon this one, and you are in the mood for a very obscure, early 80s martial arts film, give it a go, but it's not worth searching for.

As far as I can ascertain, this has never had an official release stateside, possibly never released outside of South Korea, and is available only in unsubtitled Korean, and only in bootleg form. The print quality is good though, with clear audio and picture, only a slight bit of bending at the very bottom of the screen.
