Best written episode of the 3rd season
hmb-517787 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I loved everything about this episode. From the realistic male stripper, to the emotional payoff of the finale.

I was glad they went back and filled in the once-his-wife Candy story line. She was this dangling participle from her earlier episode.

I thought maybe she was a demon or something. The writers came up with a much better back story.

I have been hoping the show would be giving Ella focus in an episode, and this did things I wanted. Up until now we had some family drama, but they keep dangling quirky personality foibles.

This gave us tons of personality moments, and she finally got out of the uniform she's lived in up until now.

Lucifer fought tooth and nail to avoid growth and acknowledgment of the feelings he's fought since the series started.

Cloe fought tooth and nail to avoid facing how much she still loves Lucifer and how much it hurt her that he's been hiding from her.

When the episode came to a head, and Luci gave Cloe her birthday gift, I was all bawled up face and caught breath.

Are they in love and professing their feelings? Not yet. But has a huge block been removed from their path? Absolutely.

Am I cheering them on? Yup.

I know it'll take them a while to land this, but the future is looking bright. And seeing the way they're going forward, I'm really happy.

awesome one liners all through

In my opinion the dialogue about penetration (Dont want to spoil it ) is one of the best double entendres if I spelled that right that I have ever heard in my life. If you follow the serial you will get what I mean.

I watch a lot of serials but this was the first time I have ever almost collapsed off a chair laughing... brilliant, please give us more like that!

An atypical episode but a nice treat!

Loved that Lopez (the classic crime series procedural goofy smart geek girl) character got her opportunity to shine.

Written for Lopez, it was a departure from the norm. Totally fun. Definitely laughed the most during this episode than any other.

Tom Ellis (Lucifer) was also in rare form. Working his "old-school, pseudo-womanizer, best cheesy James Bond" persona to a T. If you enjoy that side to his character, you'll love this episode!

Saving Candy and Chloe's Birthday
vivianla18 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ella surprises Chloe with a stripper popping out of a box for her birthday at the precinct. Lucifer receives a call and he genuinely and adorably is worried about Candy and that she is missing. Ella claims she must go with him.

Ella dresses up and comes down from the escalator. I didn't recognize her. She wore a tight gold dress with high heels. The detective and Linda came to the penthouse and started partying.

We see flashbacks of Candy and Lucifer first meetings. Candy dances and sings at a club and rubs her chest up against Lucifer's at the bar. She steals his wallet and ring. Lucifer goes after her and waits in her room. He puts his fingers down her cleavage to take back his ring. Candy is wearing a bra that pushes up her boobs.

They have a heart-to-heart about their issues. Candy needs money to pay off this Italian guy.

Lucifer performs at the club, introducing himself as the new owner. Ella and the showgirls dance in sparkly bras and feathers.

Lucifer confronts the killer and Ella shoots him.

After the Las Vegas intervene, Ella flirts with the asian detective in her showgirl outfit.

Lucifer comes home to find Linda and Dan drunk and passed out on the couch. Detective is in his bed. He sees the safe and opens it. He gifts Chloe a necklace with the bullet she shot him with. He cleverly says that since he probably won't be penetrating her and since she did...

"But it's MY Birthday"

Lucifer Morningstar receives some deeply disturbing, information regarding his ex spouse Candy, that causes him to have to leave Detective, Chloe Decker in the lurch on her special day, and head off post hast to Las Vegas.

Chloe Decker despite repeated protestations of her own to the contrary, is just as self obsessed as Lucifer Morninstar, and when he has decided to do a bunk she takes it personally.

Ella Lopez has hidden depths she is truly somewhat of a multi dimensional character, with a strange fixation about avoiding Las Vegas like the proverbial plague, what can it possibly be about that gambling nirvana, that irks, the otherwise cheerful soul that is Ella Lopez.

really annoying
eborella637 November 2017
I love Lucifer and I have been enjoying the show since the beginning, but this episode was really dull, childish and boring. Chloe is a detective, an adult and a mother, but she was acting like a stupid teenager the entire episode, really ridiculous. Ella had a background in Vegas that is not so nice but she gets a job at the police department? I know that it is fantasy but we could keep it a little more believable. I don't like the Lucifer-Chloe arch, I don't think they should get together ever, it should always be a professional relationship, and also where is Maze? she is my favorite but no Maze for several episodes? Sorry Lucifer but better to start changing the writers or the show will be cancelled.
