  • [Summer enters the classroom carrying a box]

Summer Hathaway : Hey, everybody! It's a beautiful day! Isn't it a beautiful day?

    Tomika : Uh... Yeah.

    [Summer fakes a convincing smile]

Tomika : Summer, I'm really sorry I sold your whale bowl.

Summer Hathaway : Oh, that? I'd forgotten all about that. I am fine.

Tomika : You don't seem fine.

    Summer Hathaway : I'm great. Did I mention it's a beautiful day?

[the rest of the class is confused]

Summer Hathaway : Oh. Besides, you were right about me needing to let go of some things. Do you want some of this junk?

[Summer places the box on Tomika's desk. Tomika goes through the box and takes a poncho out. Tomika gasps]

Tomika : You're giving away our face poncho - our foncho?

Summer Hathaway : It's just meaningless garbage! Just like this.

[Summer goes through the box and takes out a necklace. Summer holds it up]

Summer Hathaway : Who wants a necklace with half a stupid heart?

Tomika : I do. I have the other half.

[Tomika takes her necklace out from under her school uniform]

Summer Hathaway : Aww. Well, now you can complete the set.

[Summer gives Tomika the necklace that she was holding up and sits down at her desk]

    Tomika : I don't want the set.

[Lawrence stands up from sitting on his desk]

Lawrence Dooley : Zack and I will take it.

Zack Kwan : No, we won't.

[Zack pulls Lawrence back by his sweater]

Dewey Finn : I'm sensing some tens-ion between you two.

Summer Hathaway : I have no idea what you're talking about. Have I mentioned it's a beautiful day?

    [the whole class responds Yes!]

Dewey Finn : Nobody is going to lunch until we solve this problem between Tomika and Summer.

Zack Kwan : But it's Country Fried Chicken Day.

Dewey Finn : You have five minutes. Summer, admit it - you're mad at Tomika.

Summer Hathaway : Yeah. Well, maybe a little. That bowl meant a lot to me.

Tomika : I know what'll cheer you up. Get ready for the happy dance.

[Tomika turns on music and begins to dance in front of and around Summer, who is not amused]

    Tomika : Whoo!

[the rest of the class begin to dance along as Tomika jumps onto Mr. Finn's desk and continues dancing]

Tomika : You can't resist the happy dance. It's irresistible!

Freddy Huerta : It really is!

[Tomika jumps off Mr. Finn's desk as the music ends]

Tomika : Ooh! Oh, it's official - I need to start wearing deodorant.

Summer Hathaway : You can't happy-dance your way out of this.

  • Tomika : OK, Summ, there must be something in your locker we can sell.

[Freddy sighs, Tomika opens Summer's locker]

Freddy Huerta : OK, how about we start with...

[Freddy takes a coffee mug out of Summer's locker]

    Freddy Huerta : ...this?

[Summer grabs the coffee mug from Freddy]

Summer Hathaway : But that's the coffee mug I want to drink coffee out of when I start drinking coffee.

Tomika : Uh... OK, how about...

[Tomika takes a clown wig out of Summer's locker]

Tomika : A silly clown wig? I mean, come on!

Summer Hathaway : Ha, yeah - I'll go to clown camp in my regular hair.

[Summer grabs the clown wig from Tomika]

    Tomika : Uh... What about...

[as Tomika attempts to take another item out of Summer's locker]

    Summer Hathaway : No.

    Tomika : Here...

[as Tomika attempts to take another item out of Summer's locker]

    Summer Hathaway : Nope.

[as Tomika attempts to take another item out of Summer's locker]

    Summer Hathaway : No.

[as Tomika attempts to take another item out of Summer's locker]

    Summer Hathaway : No!

[as Tomika attempts to take a number of items out of Summer's locker]

Summer Hathaway : No, no, no, no! No!

    Tomika : Please!

  • [At the rummage sale, to a male student, who is interested in buying from Freddy]

Freddy Huerta : Alright, this is pure-coconut-butter hair gel. It's the secret to my effortless shine and hold.

Dewey Finn : And it tastes great on toast.

[Mr. Finn takes some of the hair gel and puts it on a piece of toast, he takes a bite of it, he groans in disgust as he spits it out, indicating that it does not taste great]

Lawrence Dooley : Well, this rummage sale is a complete bust.

Zack Kwan : Maybe it's because every time somebody tries to buy something, Summer puts it in her Do Not Sell box.

Summer Hathaway : That's not true.

    [Summer picks up a stapler]

Summer Hathaway : I'm willing to sell this stapler.

Tomika : You just swiped that from Mr. Finn's desk.

Esmeralda : How much for that?

[Esmeralda points at the stapler that Summer is holding]

Summer Hathaway : It's filled with memories of me swiping it from Mr. Finn's desk. I don't know.

Tomika : Think of the band.

    [to Esmeralda]

    Summer Hathaway : Ten dollars.

    Esmeralda : I'll take it.

Summer Hathaway : Great. Here is your...

[Summer becomes hesitant in giving the stapler to Esmeralda and she ends up licking the stapler]

Esmeralda : Ugh! You licked it!

Summer Hathaway : I licked it.

    Tomika : She licked it!

Freddy Huerta : Of course she licked it.

    [Esmeralda walks off]

    Tomika : Summer!

Summer Hathaway : I'm sentimental. I'm sorry. This goes into the Do Not Sell box.

[Summer lifts the Do Not Sell box from the ground and places it on the table. Summer sees that it is filled up and gasps]

Summer Hathaway : Ooh! It's filling up. I'm going to need another Do Not Sell box.

[Summer walks off and exits the courtyard]

Tomika : You know what? Summer just needs a gentle push. I'm gonna help her break her bad habit by selling something for her.

Freddy Huerta : Uh... You sure that's a good idea?

Tomika : Totally. Once it's gone, she'll realize she didn't need it and she'll see it's no big deal. It's the perfect plan.

Freddy Huerta : Except what kind of weirdo kid would buy an ugly punchbowl?

[Clark gasps as he enters the courtyard and sees the whale punchbowl]

Clark O'Shannon : I have to have that punchbowl.

    [to Freddy, about Clark]

    Tomika : THAT weirdo kid.

Clark O'Shannon : As you know, International Principals' Day is coming up.

    Tomika : No!

Freddy Huerta : No one knows that.

  • [Summer returns to the rummage sale]

Tomika : Summ, as your best friend, I wanted to help you learn to let go. So I sold something for you so you'd see it was no big deal.

Freddy Huerta : I thought it was a really good idea.

Summer Hathaway : You sold something of mine?

Freddy Huerta : But I had my doubts and asked Tomika if it was the right thing to do.

[Summer checks the Do Not Sell box to see what Tomika sold]

Summer Hathaway : Maybe I could let go of a couple of things.

Freddy Huerta : That's just what I said.

Tomika : I sold that ugly whale punchbowl.

Summer Hathaway : You did what?

Freddy Huerta : Now I definitely recall telling her not to. I'm honestly not even sure I was there.

Tomika : Summer, it was an old piece of junk.

Summer Hathaway : How could you say that? That bowl's a huge part of our friendship.

Tomika : Really? Uh... I mean, yeah, 'cause you and I always have a whale of a time together.

Summer Hathaway : You clearly don't remember.

Freddy Huerta : I tried to tell her, Summer.

    [to Tomika]

Freddy Huerta : I practically begged you!

    [to Freddy]

    Tomika : What?

Summer Hathaway : Some friend you are.

[Summer walks off and exits the courtyard]

    Tomika : Summer!

    [to Summer]

Freddy Huerta : I'm disappointed in Tomika too.

    [to Tomika]

Freddy Huerta : I admit I probably could've handled that better.

  • Dewey Finn : So this is all we know about the crime. What does this tell us?

Freddy Huerta : Don't use duct tape to lock the van.

Dewey Finn : You just made the suspect list.

[Mr. Finn puts up a photo of Freddy over a missing poster of the van]

Summer Hathaway : We really need to figure out a way to replace our instruments or we'll never play a gig again.

[Summer sits down at her desk]

Dewey Finn : We could do a rummage sale. I did one for a friend once and raised a lot of money. They were really mad when they got back from vacation.

    Tomika : That's a great idea.

Freddy Huerta : There's a ton of stuff in my room that I'm tired of looking at.

[Lawrence stands up from sitting on his desk]

Lawrence Dooley : Whoa. That's my room and my stuff.

Freddy Huerta : Yeah, I know, but I've been living there for three months and I'm willing to part with it.

Lawrence Dooley : I guess there are a few things I could get rid of.

Freddy Huerta : How about that machine that goes boop-boop-boop?

Lawrence Dooley : My boop machine?

Dewey Finn : Summer, what about you? You got anything you could dig up that'd make us some moolah?

Summer Hathaway : Me? Oh! Uh... Yeah-huh. Yeah. I mean, I could... I'm sure... And there's, you know... Uh... Uh...

[Summer's stammering leaves the whole class confused. As Summer continues to stammer]

Lawrence Dooley : I think we need to reboot Summer.

[Lawrence gently pokes Summer on her left arm, making her stop stammering. Lawrence smiles in response]

Tomika : Summer has a little problem letting go of some of her stuff. Actually, any of her stuff.

Summer Hathaway : Hey! Every kid collects stuff.

Tomika : Yeah - toys, baseball cards, stuffed animals. Not...

[Tomika opens Summer's bag, goes through it and takes out some papers]

    Tomika : ...a bunch of fifth-grade tests.

Summer Hathaway : That was a breakthrough year in cursive.

Freddy Huerta : Guys, just leave her alone. She's sentimental.

[Summer agrees with Freddy, while Tomika goes through Summer's bag once more and takes out a zip-lock bag containing hair]

Freddy Huerta : And is that a bag of hair?

    Summer Hathaway : Oh.

[Summer grabs the zip-lock bag containing hair from Tomika]

Summer Hathaway : It's MY hair.

Zack Kwan : That doesn't make it better.

Tomika : Summ, I know you have a lot of stuff you could part with. And if we're going to replace our instruments, we're all gonna have to sacrifice.

    Dewey Finn : She's right.

    Summer Hathaway : Fine.

[Summer offers the zip-lock bag containing hair to Zack]

Summer Hathaway : Take the hair.

Zack Kwan : Maybe other stuff?

[Zack gently declines the zip-lock bag containing hair, which makes Summer happy. Summer holds the zip-lock bag containing hair close to her chest]

  • [Both Tomika and Freddy walk up to Clark]

Tomika : How much do you want for the whale bowl?

Clark O'Shannon : What do you want it for?

Tomika : I wish I knew, but apparently it's very important to me.

Clark O'Shannon : In that case, would you be willing to get down on your knees and beg me for it?

Freddy Huerta : There's no way that we're...

[Tomika drops to her knees. Freddy notices. To Tomika]

Freddy Huerta : We're doing this?

[Freddy gets down on his knees]

Tomika : Please let us have the whale bowl.

Clark O'Shannon : Call me O Wise One.

Tomika : Uh... Please let us have the whale bowl, O Wise One.

Clark O'Shannon : No, it's not for sale.

    [Tomika huffs]

    Clark O'Shannon : But I enjoyed that.

[Both Tomika and Freddy stand back up]

Tomika : Come on, Clark. How much do you want for it?

Clark O'Shannon : I'm not in it for the money. I'm in it for the power.

[Clark places his right hand on the gift box where he placed the whale punchbowl inside of]

Clark O'Shannon : This is gonna take my relationship with Principal Mullins to the next level - co-principals!

Tomika : OK, crazytown. What would co-principals even be?

Clark O'Shannon : Get on your knees and beg me to tell you.

[Freddy sighs as he gets down on his knees]

Freddy Huerta : Please tell us...

    [to Freddy]

    Tomika : Get up.

[Freddy stands back up. To Tomika]

Freddy Huerta : Oh, this one we're NOT doing?

Clark O'Shannon : For starters, imagine me and Principal Mullins in matching outfits.

    Tomika : I'd rather not.

[Cut to Freddy is holding a ladle and a bucket of tuna, and Tomika is holding a bowl]

Tomika : I remember everything about the day we met except for that stupid whale bowl.

[Tomika tests the weight of the bowl that she is holding]

Tomika : Mm. Still a little light. Hit me with another scoop of tuna.

[Freddy puts some tuna into the bowl. Tomika test the weight of the bowl again]

    Tomika : Perfect!

[Freddy places the bucket of tuna on the ground with the ladle as Tomika places the bowl into a gift box, closes it, and picks it up]

Freddy Huerta : Isn't that gonna smell when Principal Mullins opens it?

    [Tomika laughs]

    Tomika : Yeah.

  • Dewey Finn : OK, young dudes and dudettes, before we head off to this sweet road gig, I've only got one question for you.

Tomika : Are you ready to rock?

Freddy Huerta , Zack Kwan , Summer Hathaway , Lawrence Dooley : Yeah!

Dewey Finn : I actually was going to ask if anybody had to pee first.

Lawrence Dooley : I've got to pee first! Rock'n'roll!

[Lawrence runs off to the bathroom]

Dewey Finn : Rock on, Lawrence. Rock on. OK. Thanks, Tomika. Now let's go down our checklist of road-trip rock necessities. Number one - bring a checklist.

[Mr. Finn takes a checklist out from his pocket]

    Dewey Finn : Check. Directions.

[Freddy takes his phone out of his pocket]

    Freddy Huerta : Check.

    Dewey Finn : Throat lozenges.

[Zack lifts the box that he is carrying]

    Zack Kwan : Check.

    Dewey Finn : Rock'n'roll hair.

    [They shake their heads]

Dewey Finn , Tomika , Freddy Huerta , Zack Kwan , Summer Hathaway : Check!

    Dewey Finn : Butt pillow.

Summer Hathaway : Butt pillow? Why would you want a...

[Mr. Finn gives Summer a look]

Summer Hathaway : Never mind, I don't wanna know.

Dewey Finn : And most importantly - instruments.

[Cut to them opening the van and seeing that it is empty, indicating that their instruments have been stolen]

    Tomika : Not check!

Freddy Huerta : Somebody stole our instruments!

Dewey Finn : Please tell me you see my butt pillow.

    Tomika : That's gone too.

    Dewey Finn : Those monsters!

    [Mr. Finn grunts in frustration]

Summer Hathaway : Didn't you lock the door?

Dewey Finn : Of course I did.

Zack Kwan : Duct-taping the doors doesn't count.

    Dewey Finn : Then I didn't.

    [Tomika sighs]

    Tomika : This stinks.

[Tomika closes one of the van's doors]

Dewey Finn : I don't get it - why would the thieves take the instruments but not this sweet van?

[Mr. Finn grunts in frustration as he closes the van's other door. The door that Mr. Finn closes falls out]

Tomika : Does that answer your question?

[Mr. Finn gives Tomika an annoyed look]

  • [about Clark]

Tomika : Oh! Now you distract him while I make the switch.

    Freddy Huerta : OK. How?

Tomika : I'm thinking you face plant right into Andrea McAvoy's pasta and meatballs.

Freddy Huerta : Why does it have to be me?

[singsongy, while it looks like she is about to happy-dance again]

    Tomika : Don't make me happy-dance.

    [Freddy groans]

    Freddy Huerta : Fine!

Tomika : OK. Fall face first in that fusilli and make me proud.

Freddy Huerta : Here goes nothing.

[Loudly, to the students who were in the courtyard]

Freddy Huerta : Well, I, uh... better get going.

[Freddy makes his best effort to convincingly be clumsy in front of the students who were in the courtyard by pretending to trip and about to fall over. He eventually ends up falling face-first into Andrea McAvoy's pasta and meatballs, which leaves his whole face covered with pasta and meatballs. Freddy walks back to Tomika]

    Tomika : That was amazing!

Freddy Huerta : Did you make the switch?

    Tomika : What?

[Tomika realizes that she was meant to switch gift boxes with Clark, without him realizing, while Freddy was being convincingly clumsy in front of the students who were in the courtyard but forgot]

Tomika : Oh, no. You were so good, I got distracted. You're gonna have to do it again.

Freddy Huerta : Great. I already look like someone puked spaghetti all over me!

[Tomika suddenly remembers what happened with the whale punchbowl on the first day that she and Summer met, and what it represents]

Tomika : That's it! Puke. Now I remember! Problem solved.

Freddy Huerta : So I don't have to embarrass myself again?

Tomika : No, you have to.

    Freddy Huerta : Great.

[Again, loudly to the students who were in the courtyard]

Freddy Huerta : Well, I better get going... again.

[Again, Freddy goes off to make his best effort to convincingly be clumsy in front of the students who were in the courtyard by pretending to trip and about to fall over and end up falling face-first into Andrea McAvoy's pasta and meatballs so that Tomika can successfully switch gift boxes with Clark, without him realizing, and recover the whale punchbowl]
