Not so original story with inconsistent acting
agore329 November 2019
I did not see any correlation between the title (takeoff on Plan 9 from Outer Space?) and the movie. This is just an extended variation of a typical classic Twilight Zone sci-fi episode with a twist at the ending. It is very low budget - below most TV shows Except for a helmet and the junk radio, there are no other real space props in the movie. The space helmet did not even connect in any way to the space suit (just a blue jump suit) so what value was the helmet?

Most of the movie plays out in the desert where they walk around the likely to be hot jumpsuit (save for one female). There is the usual drama of who is in charge the and quest for water.

Toward the end there is a scene with two law enforcement officers. On one, the uniform was poorly fitting and the top shirt button could not be fastened. I could not tell if this was intentional or not.

Very little science in this science fiction film
dominionlimo1 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The science occurred during the first five minutes and the last five minutes of this film. The intervening 80 minutes consisted of a lot of talk while wandering aimlessly through a desert. Viewers who anticipate any connection to "Plan Nine from Outer Space" based on this title will be sorely disappointed. The actors performed reasonably well given the lack of a coherent script and very few props. Only one character had any meaningful flashbacks; perhaps other flashbacks would have enhanced the other characters. I watched the entire movie hoping for a resolution and/or closure but instead it ended with the words every viewer dreads: "To be continued". The scene partway through the rolling end credits seemed an afterthought, while the scene at the bitter end raised the unanswered question of why the pocket watch was miraculously repaired and ticking again.

Another D movie
cdnkelly15 November 2019
Another one that looks like it was done as a high school project. Too many closeups, poor to no props and use of the background. Poor acting by all.

Dreadful

Warning: Spoilers
Astronauts who are stupid and don't know science, and events are implausible even by Scifi standards. The movie is also amateurish, slow, and completely pointless since it ends with the words "to be continued." Look up the definition of "shaggy dog story" and you'll find an excellent description of this movie.

Before There Was Grindhouse
bemyfriend-401848 March 2021
Or rather, the dawn of grindhouse; including the "film" "burning"; and jumping ahead to another scene. Tongue in cheek; with some jokes actually working. Another movie from among the many odds and ends streaming for free on Tubi. It will finally get seen there, I guess.

Monotonous. Spent maybe $200 on props. Characters just talk talk talk.

50's retro Sci-fi film gem
joemendoza10011 September 2018
One of those great little independent sci-fi film gems with a 50's retro feel that come out of nowhere. Shot in black and white, enjoyable to watch with a mix of mystery and humor. It is about 5 returning astronauts stranded when they crashland in a desert. I am a big sci-fi film buff and it lived up to my expectations. I highly recommend this film. So treat yourself, like they say get some popcorn, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

Good ending

Decent movie, but could've been summed up into a 30 minute twilight zone episode watch the first 10 minutes and then fast forward to the last 20 minutes there's nothing to miss in between

Sci-fi Tribute Done Right
moviewizman5 November 2019
Writer and Director Lance Polland sets out to make an original film and a tribute to old school 50s sci-fi and succeeds on both levels. The movie stars Jessica Morris, Angie Duke, Scott Sell, Hans Hernke and Minchi Murakami. When a space shuttle crash lands its passengers have no idea where they are stranded or how they will get out of their current situation and we then go on a journey that starts as a slow burn but escalates quickly with some very nice twists and turns that make this a very fun experience to watch unfold. The Acting is solid and the Directing is on point and shooting in black and white was the right choice. This is a great throwback to old sci-fi and makes you want more when it is over. I wont spoil anything here but I was pleasantly surprised the way the movie zigs when I thought it would zag.

Not as bad as some people say, but not a 10
Bastette5427 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I hate it when I read reviews of a movie, and some of them are 1s and 2s condemning it as total junk, while others are 9s and 10s, and filled with gushing praise - with nothing in between. I've been told that this is a sign of fake reviews, and it sure looks that way to me.

I enjoyed this movie. It held my interest throughout. Yes, it was low-budget, but I have no problem with that. Not every filmmaker gets a Hollywood blockbuster budget. It's interesting to see what they can do on a small amount of cash, and this one seemed to have a homeopathic amount.

I agree that this felt like a Twilight Zone episode, but I love TW, so that's a good thing. Filming it in B&W, along with the low budget, gave it the look of an old TV show. I kept wondering which of the familiar tropes would turn out to be the final reveal. Would they turn out to be not on Earth? Did they do a bit of time-traveling? (But I was thinking far future, long after humanity had destroyed itself.) Were they Dead All Along? (I still have no idea how anyone could have survived the crash.)

The one thing I really didn't like was when one of the characters started acting hostile and paranoid, eventually becoming delusional and murderous. Could we have one story about people in a life-or-death struggle to survive, without at least one of them acting like a complete jerk and causing trouble for everyone else? I guess writers think we would be bored unless they introduced some "conflict," but most of the time, it just feels forced. Besides, the situation itself offers plenty of opportunities for danger and suspense.

So overall, the time watching the film was worthwhile. The acting was ok, and most of the characters were likable. I didn't feel a need for more action, so the pace was fine. It was hardly a masterpiece, as some of the 10/10 reviewers would have you think, but I've seen a lot worse. This was not as bad as some people thought it was.

Interesting Story with a Twist ending!
ScottduPont17 January 2019
I really enjoyed this sci-fi adventure film. It had a little bit of everything including lots of "conflict" when things start going bad. Excellent cast and a few surprise twists & turns along the way including a big twist at the end of the film! (Sorry... no spoilers, you'll have to see this film for yourself). :)
