Leftovers to Be with Screenwriter Christopher Hawthorne (2017)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
Fast and fun interview with screenwriter Christopher Hawthorne who discusses the 1989 cult film PARENTS. The screenwriter starts off talking on topics including how he got into the business, what ideas were going through his head for this film and how he has a love-hate relationship with horror movies. From here he gets into the production of the movie including the original casting, which had them looking at Christopher Walken. He also discusses his original thoughts on Randy Quaid and then we get several good stories about the filming and the reaction of Siskel and Ebert. If you're a fan of PARENTS then you'll certainly enjoy this sixteen-minute featurette as Hawthorne tells all sorts of highly entertaining stories. There's obviously nothing ground-breaking here but there are enough great stories told that you get a full idea of what the entire production was like.
