Goofs

Pria

The Orville

Edit

Continuity

In retaliation to an earlier prank, Issac cuts off his left leg as he sleeps. However, when Gordon is seen without his leg, it appears to have been cut off at the knee. Later in the episode, the leg falls from the ceiling while Ed and Kelly question Pria about her ulterior motives. The leg appears to have been cut off from the hip.
After Pria successfully flies the Orville out of the dark matter storm, the bridge lighting returns to normal without any ordering the red alert canceled.

Factual errors

The gravity of the star seems capricious and unpredictable, in just the way that real gravity is not. Both comet and shuttle craft were in free fall towards the star; when the shuttle craft stated accelerating away from the comet and towards the Orville, all was well for a bit, then the star's gravity suddenly asserted itself and the shuttle started falling back towards the star. In reality, Gordon would have known at all times how the shuttle was going to behave.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When The Orville pulls the shuttle in with the tractor beam, there is still a stream of chunks from the asteroid moving away from the sun behind it. If the sun's gravity was pulling the asteroid down towards the sun, the chunks would also be pulled down. However, the tractor beam could easily be affecting the chunks as well as the shuttlecraft.

Revealing mistakes

The Orville is shown speeding towards a wormhole, but whenever we go back to Pria's quarters while this is happening, the stars outside are absolutely still.
Footage of the Orville entering and exiting the wormhole is flipped when it travels the other way through.

Plot holes

Character error

When the Orville encounters the dark matter storm, Pria says that she can help because, "We encountered a dark matter storm on a mining expedition to Pollux 5." She advises the crew to "Adjust your weapons array to flood the area with neutralized axion particles." Isaac says that it's a fascinating theory and, "I do not believe anyone has ever attempted such a solution." Yes, they have. Pria just said that her mining crew did it. It may be true that he hasn't heard of anyone else ever having tried it, but that is not what he said. An advanced, superior being like Isaac would not make such an error.
