Miri's necklace - two interlinking circles - mirrors the original logo of the film that was used during the film's crowdfunding project.
'Hookworm' was filmed over four consecutive days on location in Swanage. All scenes were filmed during daylight hours.
The film was shot in two separate houses; the hallway, living room and kitchen scenes in one house, and the bedroom and bathroom scenes in another.
In the first bedroom scene, Miri mentions that she 'catches Simon looking at me, sometimes'. This is a reference to Antonio Campos' 'Simon Killer' (2012) which the Director and DP used as one of the primary inspirations for the cinematography. The shot in which Miri says this is almost identical to a shot in 'Simon Killer'.
The shot where Miri looks directly into the camera after slapping Tamara is a reference to 'Possession' (1981)
