In 1875, Bass Reeves was the first black U.S. Deputy Marshal west of the Mississippi River and one of the greatest frontier heroes in US history, who brought in more than 3,000 outlaws and helped to tame the lawless territory. Killing some 14 men during his service, Reeves always said that he "never shot a man when it was not necessary for him to do so in the discharge of his duty to save his own life."
The house that the Lone Ranger lives in was also used in Travelers (2016) episode 1x03, "Aleksander (2016)".
It might be a fair dramatic conceit, but the contention that the Lone Ranger was based on Bass Reeves appears to arise from Reeves' biographer comparing Reeves to the legendary masked man. There is no evidence that the creators of "The Lone Ranger" were aware of Reeves.
Jesse James was killed in St. Joseph in northwestern Missouri. Bass Reeves was a Deputy U.S. Marshal in western Arkansas. Lucy, Wyatt and Rufus would have had to walk hundreds of miles to find Reeves.
