Jasmine says Ariel's meet cute with the prince is "like something out of Scheherazade". The " One Thousand and One Nights" is a classic collection of 1001 Arabic and Hindu folktales. In the book, Scheherazade is telling each of these 1001 tales to her husband/king who has always killed his wives after their first night. By ending each tale with a cliff-hanger teaser she postpones her execution one night at a time. As Scheherazade is the framing device heroine, she is the principle heroine of the collection. Jasmine's own tale (or rather, Aladdin's) originated there (at least in writing).
The title comes from a line from the song "A Whole New World" from the animated version of Aladdin.
