The JAZZ PASSENGERS are a fantastical fusion of post-bop and musical comedy, once called a "perverse mainstream...hard-bop group as imagined by Frank Zappa." They first broke out on the New York City avant-garde scene with a hybrid of Charles Mingus-influenced original tunes complete with lyrics and/or entertaining stories. Early Jazz Passengers sets and recordings involved complicated and soulful compositions often featuring collaborations with Elvis Costello, Debbie Harry, and Mavis Staples. To support the 2017 release of a new record and to remind audiences of The Jazz Passengers history this short film was created.
