Well two years ago it looked like we had the final series of Outnumbered with the kids now all teenagers.
Out of the blue comes this special Christmas edition. The Brockmans are on a Boxing Day outing to scatter Grandad's ashes where he first met Grandma but Ben (now looking bigger than his older brother) who has just learned to drive hits another car leaving the family stranded and maybe a big compensation claim from the other driver, a disabled woman.
It is almost a decade since this semi improvised series started and not only the kids have got older, the eldest Jake is looking to go abroad for a new job.
It is good to see the cast back and also how it incorporates personality traits into the older children, be it being glued to social media, studying for A levels or having a girlfriend. The problem with Outnumbered has always been the semi improvisational nature also means the episode can stutter and ramble.
Still it ends with a surreal note of a war games being carried out.
