Unexpected Storyline
omicos-6928113 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In the finale, the crown prince (Won) became king and eventually brought order back to Goryeo. Having done his part, he abdicated the throne back to his father.

During his 10 lost years in his unlikely stay in Yuan, it was not told whether he was able to be with Lin and So Hwa who were still hiding and seen in Goryeo at that time. Yuan would not be a welcoming place to Won with his grandfather emperor already passed away and Won having no roots whatsoever in a land of different language.

Many years after his return, Won's painting was found. There, the three of them happily spending time in the flowery meadows gives off a touching vibe that they were able to live out their friendship and not necessarily that they were separated permanently after all.

I don't remember that much
lmerana19 October 2019
I was not so sure that I watched this so I had to watch the ending and I realized that I already watched it. There was nothing much scene that strikes me and it lacks in aspects of both romance and action. The characters were ok so I gave it a 7 at least. I also really didn't know who I like to end up with Yoona in this Kdrama but may be the crowned prince is the better choice.

Beautiful tragedy (underrated)
venusray-3145131 July 2020
It's the story of a crown prince who falls in love with a women who his best friend is also in love with. What you will love about the show is the acting particularly of the crown prince. It's the cast that stands out in this series. The plot is filled with twists and turns so it will keep you hooked till the end. But what makes this show memorable is the love and friendship between the 3 characters. Unlike other shows where you cannot understand the perspectives of the leads. Here, it helps you understand the reasons of the 3 people. Kind of you will go into their perspectives. So you will not have the usual second lead syndrome because you will love both the male leads and want both of the leads to end up with the same women So why this show is underrated? Because it will break your heart. Those who watched the show will agree that it's a tragedy. Another thing is that the friendship between the 3 main characters is so good that it will undermine the romance. Don't worry romance is the there. But you will not feel that spark between the chosen leads. If you come to prefer the second lead. And most of us do. Lastly, I would say if you love moon lovers you will love this show. It's completely different but it will give you the same feelings. Since I had watched that tragedy I have realised that my heart is made of glass. I couldn't finish it after reading the reviews that spolied the ending. Thankfully they spoiled it otherwise I would have ended up with a wonded heart too. So should you watch it? Definitely if you can handle tragic endings. Because it is worth it. Also, no other show you have watched intrests you & you wre bored. You can watch this because it will pull your interest back into kdramas. In the end, I would say it's a story of 3 people who cared for each other. If you like such stories you can go for it.

Don't know that I can watch to the end.
elsamirre10 March 2023
Episode 27. I don't know how I made it that far. This is too heartbreaking. 120 dramas so far and this is the first time that I can't watch because it causes me too much pain. I must say this is very tricky. You are deceived from the beginning as to whom the actual leads are. As i watched further, i realized that the man I was rooting for would be left in pieces at the end of the story. Unable to just wait for this to happen, I did what I never do and checked the ending spoilers. Turns out I was right. I can't stand it. I just can't.

Someone else wrote that this drama made them realise that their heart was made of glass. Well, same here. I'm about to burst into tears right now. I feel distraught, lost and somewhat broken, shattered. They also said that they couldn't watch after checking the spoilers. I think I'll try to keep going, if only because, true enough, that show did replenish my faith in Kdramas. Out of respect and gratitude for this outstanding work, I'll try, although dramas are supposed to be my antidepressants... Beautiful. If you can withstand it.

i cannot say this drama is really a good one
bottola-5061428 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Can't understand the ending.. I thought she said she liked the Crown Prince... did she also like the friend? She seemed to have just treated her as a friend. Why did the Crown Prince go to Yuan? To negotiate the complete freedom of Georyo? And it took him ten years to do that? What about the painting.. or the last words: this is how i came to love you more than myself? The title was King in Love so did they end up together at last? Or there is a Part 2? The plot is kind of confusing... the director and writer wanted a love triangle to titillate the viewers but it kind of got out of control and spun in a very weird way... there is not much to really comfort the viewers at the end... so although in the beginning the dialogues/lines were ok, i loved the sheepdog thing and also some allegories in the script but still the ending esp as to the culprit... In song? What was that character about? He was insane? The writer is saying king-makers are insane is that the moral lesson of the drama? Was Wong Lin going to just be always the Crown Prince's shadow? What happens to Dan? Is she going to bear a son for the crown Prince? Oh so many questions.. i cannot say this drama is really a good one. I loved Im Siwan though...excellent acting.. Yoona seemed to be a novice, I would much rather see Krystal take that role.. Yoona seemed to be quite unsure of her own acting, expressions sometimes... It was a long long tale of lies, etc. So many characters, confusing... we are left with more Qs than a satisfactory sigh at the end.. :( my rating is well, 8/10 if only for Im Siwan's acting... but plot-wise and editing i'd give it a 6/10.

Polymonogamy: The Prequel
Park_Min19 December 2023
The way they handled things was just all over the place. This loathsome love triangle infested its core amidst everything else. Forcefully pushing it in our throats around every single detour. It got trashier the longer it kept going. The drama was covered with palace politics, as always, but it was impossible to care about anything because they just obsessed over who's in love with whom, overshadowing anything the drama tried to offer. The pacing followed through in that regard-slow moments that dragged on forever for what could have been a quick tale. The drama fell way short of establishing a watchable narrative. It was like biting into a cookie and finding out it's all crumbs.

Perfect Series

I am still on season 17 and l am totally hooked. Loving the story line, the acting is out of this world, its that good. The Crown Prince's performance is outstanding. I can't wait to see what happens next. Well done to all the actors. Loving the lead lady as well, she is not only beautiful but she is a good actress as well. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the lead lady will fall in love with the Crown Prince. I have shared this series with my friends and they are totally in love with it. I wish this series better ratings as l rank it up there with the likes of Under the Queens Umbrella etc.
