Fun Look at an Overlooked Fulci Film
Michael_Elliott7 November 2016
Stephen Thrower on 'Manhattan Baby' (2016)

*** (out of 4)

Stephen Thrower is back with another featurette and this time he's taking a look at the forgotten Lucio Fulci picture MANHATTAN BABY. This featurette works on two levels. For starters, Thrower discusses the production, which really isn't that well-known to fans unless they've read his book. The featurette also works because Thrower manages to go into details on the controversy the picture has with fans and that's the lack of gore. Thrower looks at how THE NEW YORK RIPPER might have played a part in Fulci cutting out the gore here and he also talks about why the film deserves more attention than fans of the director gives it. At just under 13-mintues, this is another good featurette from Blue Underground and there's no question that Thrower knows how to tell a story and he's certainly full of some wonderful information.
