You don't bring me flowers anymore. I only wish this episode was the series pilot episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Why the hate eh? I wrote a review on this series on September 19, 2016, in which I predicted that Kevin Can Wait will be around long enough to win a number of Emmys. I only wish that this episode 1.8 would have been the pilot episode.

The story line was just friggin' hilarious man. Two new characters were introduced in this episode in which the retired cop Kevin Gable (Kevin James) runs into his old cop partner Jimmy Landers (Adam Sandler) who introduces Kevin to his new and improved current cop partner Nick (Chris Weidman) who looks and acts like a Superman clone. Obviously the old, retired and overweight Kevin is envious of the guy who replaces him on the police force and the two new partners Jimmy Landers and the Adonis built Nick immediately bond which leaves poor old retired Kevin the odd man out and he does not like it one bit.

So Kevin with the assistance of his wife Donna (Erinn Hayes) who suggests to Kevin that he phone his old partner Jimmy and set up a man date at the batting cage so that they can reconnect proceeds just as his wife had suggested. The plan was going pretty good and the two old buddy's were enjoying each others company until Jimmy's new and athletic partner Nick shows up at the batting cage and knocks the leather right off the baseballs putting Kevin's own batting skills to shame.

This is where the story line continues to a resounding and rip roaring comical end when the two old partners end up at a restaurant/bar to sing Karaoke as a duet titled "YOU DON'T BRING ME FLOWERS ANYMORE". I don't want to spoil the ending because you just have to see it for yourself. What I can say is that I hope that Adam Sandler and Chris Weidman have re-occurring roles in the series which would be sure to have a very overwhelming positive appeal to a broader television audience than the earlier negative reviews have unfairly indicated.

Keep in mind that earlier TV sitcoms such as the 1970 The Mary Tyler Moore Show, the 1989 Seinfeld and even the 2007 The Big Bang Theory all got off to a slow start in fan appeal but through time as the characters and story lines developed so did the fan support.

I for one hope that there will be more great episodes such as this one laugh fest in the years to come and we will see Kevin James and various members of the cast accepting their Emmys' over the next several years. You just have to see this episode it was hilarious. Then you will get hooked on Kevin Can Wait as I have become.

Adam Sandler guests

While not spectacular 'Kevin Can Wait' has offered up better than this.

This episode is seriously weak, not even boosted by a guest appearance from Adam Sandler.

Perhaps the writers thought their chemistry alone would boost the fact that this script is very thin.

Erinn Hayes is given nothing to do, and Taylor Spreitler is reduced to just watching on as Kevin James and Sandler serenade each other.

Very, very weak.
