Angels Flight has been in and out of operation over the last century. "Bosch" received special permission to film at the iconic railway just before its reopening in the Fall of 2017.
The central storyline of Season Four is adapted from Michael Connelly's 1998 novel ANGELS FLIGHT. It was the sixth book in the best-selling Harry Bosch series, now numbering twenty-one novels. In it Bosch sees an ad for Blood Work (2002) but in the book's universe it's a nonfiction docudrama.
The busted sprinkler in Edgar's front yard is a nod to the damage done by police during the officer rescue (Season 3, episode 9, "Clear Shot") after Edgar was shot and wounded in his driveway.
Each episode of "Bosch" takes eight days to film. Most of that time is spent shooting out on location throughout the city of Los Angeles. Production each year typically runs from August until late-November.
The titles of episodes One "Ask the Dust", Two "Dreams of Bunker Hill", and Six "The Wine of Youth" are all inspired by the novels of John Fante.
