This episode of Code Black was nothing short of odd, but it was still a great one at that. The doctors of Angels Memorial treat members of a cult mass-suicide attempt. This episode did develop Leanne's storyline, though, which is something we have not seen much in season two. The way it was revealed was painfully beautiful. We see Leanne's children in the morgue, as Leanne looks in on her kids with tears streaming down her face. This was a flashback that was delivered in a way that did not feel constrained. It felt real. It felt raw. Leanne's pain of losing her family was a common theme in season one, but in season two, it was not as apparent...which, quite honestly, is a shame because the tragedy of Leanne's loss was something Marcia Gay Harden portrays so well. Needless to say, though, this episode was definitely unconventional, especially with it airing before Thanksgiving. It was also thorny, as we saw yet another doctor leave Angels Memorial. But, above all, it was symbolic. I was impressed, and so were all of my other friends who watched.

Self-righteous nonsense

The thick, syrupy self-righteousness was too much, even for Code Black.
It is always pathetic when physicians claim some sort of personal moral superiority, but using it to circumvent any sense of ethics is ridiculous and self-serving. From the premiere until this point, this was the worst episode.
