Fear the Walking Dead is finally reaching its potential. Warning: Spoilers
It took a while but this show is finally getting good.

Since the end of the second season its shown some potential and from the start of this season it's reaching it. It's taking risks, and that makes it interesting and unpredictable. Characters are changing and growing, and there are touches of humanity, realism, even humour, among the occasional over-the-top moments that make television entertaining.

For me, Fear the Walking Dead is now the show to watch over The Walking Dead. The two shows feel very different where they are right now. Fear the Walking Dead feels set in a sort of reality like the early seasons of The Walking Dead. While The Walking Dead now feels like a comic book.

The first season was slow and unfocused but mercifully short. At the start of the second season this became a show I would put on in the background and occasionally look up at as it didn't seem to be doing anything but changing locations. But since the start of the third season it has my full attention.

I'd understand if its tried too many people's patience and some have lost interest, but even if you only have a basic understanding of the characters, start watching again, because it's finally getting good.

It's probably about to p_ss it all away with everyone eventually returning from the dead in some way or another but in a way it's been setting that up all along. That really is the theme of the show along with this spin-off. As long they execute the story as well as they have been lately, I'm not even going to mind.

Daniel Salazar Is Back!!!
ZegMaarJus17 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Daniel Salazar is back. This character is controversial and at the same time a friendly old man, surely in my top 3 of favorite Fear the Walking Dead characters. This event gives the show a boost in many different ways, more action, more spectacular situation with this controversial man.

Daniel is back!!!
guilhermeforcegui22 June 2017
We had a slow episode here, but it brought with it a good story. We saw original and dynamic scenes, like the "death" of the zombie with the thunderbolt, the scene of the bicycle, anyway. We also had the definite development of Daniel, who came back strongly in this episode, strand suffering the consequences of his past decisions, in addition to the presentation of 2 new characters. What bothered me a little about this episode was that it was focused on an isolated arc ... I wanted to see Nick, Madison, Ofelia (who disappeared from the map) on the scene ... But because it was an episode that showed the return Of a character of weight, I am satisfied! The fact that Daniel has taken the dam can bring huge future arcs to the series ... This was clarifying a preparatory episode, as Madison said in the series trailer: "There's a fight coming", we'll see what's going to happen

Finally something good
K-Ahrens25 June 2017
Frankly, this is the first time FTWD has really given us something decent to view. Truly an amazing job by Rueben Blades. Can we just focus on Daniel for a while? Seriously. I love that this episode was done almost entirely in Spanish with English subtitles and it just feels very real. The ending was quite satisfying.

A Ruben Blades Led Masterpiece
lunasnowhehe10 June 2021
This is by far in the top 3 best episodes of television. Yes, IT IS THAT GOOD.

Its crazy how 99% of this episode is spoken entirely in Spanish. You rarely get that in American television but Fear managed to do it.

10/10.

This is what we want to see!
Froggys727221 October 2021
An episode of a real apocalipse. The surviving of these people in the streets. The real necesity of water and the way they have to get it.

With almost the entirly spanish cast.

The performance of Daniel is absolutly clean since his first episode appear, one of the best characters of the series, so interesting! With a dark and little revealed past, which just in this episode becomes quite clear.

The tension suffered in this episode is excellent with daniel decisions and have a nice end without and innecessary cliffhanger.

Fear has become a fantastic show and this episode is truly one of the best for not just Fear but also The walking Dead.

Mostly in Spanish we find that Daniel is still alive. A character i didn't care to much about but by the end of this is now my favorite.

Same the rating are so low for this, people don't know what there missing

How can a bottle episode with just one main character be so good?
MomentIMDB23 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Daniel is great, a character very well built and with a good background, which in this chapter develops very well and his interaction with all the characters is phenomenal. Efrain's character is very good and interesting. Daniel's confession scene is very emotional. I loved the integration of the dam. The best of the episode was Daniel and Efrain's torture scene and the most badass scene of the episode when Daniel kills Dante and his henchmen.

The script, the director and Ruben Blades is why this bottle episode is incredible
Holt34430 September 2020
The talented Alex Garcia Lopez got the chance to direct the 4th episode of season 3, he did a great job at directing. This is clearly a bottle episode but a great one, we follow Daniel Salazar who appeared mysteriously in episode 3 at the Dam where he met and gave Victor Strand water. Instead of beginning exactly where we left off, we get to follow Salazar on his road from where we last saw him and his journey to Gonzalez Dam. The ones who want to follow the storyline at Broke Jaw Ranch will have to wait to episode 5 but bear with me, this is a great episode.

Seeing Ruben Blades speaking in his native language throughout the whole episode, almost. It made us see his acting capabilities and he nailed the broken nature of his character, truly one of the most entertaining and best things of the episode. Another thing that I found interesting, even more so on my second viewing is how there's a large amount of world building for the Mexico part of the show as we get to see a wounded Daniel Salazar encounter many survivors, all interesting and well written even when they only have that one appearance. One of those survivors are Lola Guerrero that is fantastically played by Lisandra Tena and her character is the one responsible for supplying the water, there's lots more to her than that but she is important to the Dam.

For a bottle episode this was an incredible episode, suspenseful second half and the whole episode was filled with great acting. Musical score, sound editing and cinematography was top notch. The writing was fantastic, realistic and interesting. Don't let the slow paced beginning turn you off, there's some superb and memorable moments scattered out the episode. The title of the episode "100" has a meaning to it, one fans of Daniel Salazar will love or hate, we know he is a bad ass and for some people a kill count of 100 is bad ass. He's a well written and great character that is performed as good by Rubèn Blades.

Now in Spanish!
bauereileen019 July 2017
It was a great show in English, and now, in an entire Spanish episode, it's awesome. Since the end of the second season its shown some potential and since the start of the 3rd season it's reaching it. It's

made things interesting and unpredictable. Characters are growing (no more drug abuse), and there are elements of humanity, realism, even humor, among moments that make television entertaining.

For me, Fear the Walking Dead is now the show to watch over The Walking Dead. The two shows feel very different where they are right now. Fear the Walking Dead feels set in a sort of reality like the early seasons of The Walking Dead. While The Walking Dead now feels like a comic book.

The first season was a bit unfocused but mercifully short. At the start of the second season this became a show I would watch in the background as it didn't seem to be changing locations. But since the start of the third season it has my full attention.

If you have a basic understanding of the characters start watching again because it's finally getting good.

Unfortunately, I don't see any listing for who translated the script into Spanish. This is a real loss!

"100" delves into his psyche as he grapples with guilt and tries to make amends. The episode also introduces a new group of survivors led by Dante Esquivel
fernandoschiavi15 April 2024
In a flashback, Daniel escapes the fire at Celia's home with burns on his legs. He is rescued by Efrain Morales where the two talk. The two are separated and he ends up at the Gonzales Dam. Where Lola Guerrero spares him and is given a job at the dam as a worker.

In the present, Daniel is ordered to torture Efrain as he is siphoning water from another source. Lola reveals she allowed it as the people are in dire need of it. Lola, Efrain, and Strand are among the line to be executed. But Daniel turns the tables and kills Dante and his bodyguards. He gives control to Lola, hands her the gun and kneels before awaiting his execution but she forgives him for his actions.

In the fourth episode of the third season, titled "100," "Fear the Walking Dead" delivers a powerful and emotional installment that focuses on Daniel Salazar's journey. The episode opens with Daniel seemingly alive after the fire at the Abigail estate and follows him as he struggles with memory loss and encounters a new group of survivors.

One of the standout aspects of this episode is its exploration of trauma and redemption. Daniel's character is deeply haunted by his past actions, and "100" delves into his psyche as he grapples with guilt and tries to make amends. The episode also introduces a new group of survivors led by Dante Esquivel, adding complexity to the narrative and raising questions about trust and loyalty in the apocalypse.

The episode is also notable for its stunning cinematography and haunting visuals, particularly in the scenes where Daniel confronts his inner demons. These moments are beautifully shot and add depth to the character's arc.

Overall, "100" is a standout episode that delves deep into the emotional core of "Fear the Walking Dead." It offers a compelling character study of Daniel Salazar and continues to push the boundaries of storytelling in the zombie genre.

Salazar ROCKS
NEHernandez26 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this episode - my favorite for this season! Yes, it was in Spanish and since it is my native language I guess I am a little biased, but it was just pure amazing and followed the comic book style storytelling, like the the zombie-lightning scene (I hope this isn't a spoiler). I really liked seeing Jesse Borrego in this episode too, and look forward to seeing more of him this season.

There's potential, but the writing is subpar
Yippeekayaaay30 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After a mediocre first season, and a pretty good second season I was looking forward to see how the third season would build on the solid ending of season 2. The episode starts promising, beautiful cinematography, music and solid acting from Rubén Blades.

But... the introduction of Efrain and Lola was weak. They're not really interesting at all, for now they seem rather pointless. Dante got killed off waaay too early, he could've been a great villain. And last, but not least...the scene where the slowest walker I have ever seen got taken out by lightning! What were the writers thinking? Massive disappointment for what could've been a memorable episode. Can't wait to start season 4.

Forgive Me: Daniel is Back!
panagiotis199318 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Im so glad Daniel is alive. It's nice that this Efrain guy was willing to help him. Sadly Daniel doesn't seem to appreciate his help and later he helps the people who want Efrain and others to be without water. It's not the first time we see Daniel's ugly side. It's nice to see Victor meeting Daniel but already the situation gets complicated with Victor lying about Ofelia, didn't expect that. Love how Daniel immediately understood that Victor is lying. It was so brutal watching Daniel torturing Efrain. Efrain was such a kind soul, he didn't deserve it. Im so glad that in the end Daniel did the right thing. My Rating is 8/10.

Amazing
rfgtdfgvdfg18 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
3x4 Rating: 9.5/10 this was so good

Storyline: In a TV commercial from 1996, Jeremiah promotes his four-part video series on how to survive "TEOTWAWKI", his acronym for "the end of the world as we know it."

American democracy is about to be destroyed at the hands of foreign nationals and greedy politicians, he warns. By stockpiling for the end and learning how to defeat the "urban hordes", Jeremiah promises that his tapes can teach anyone to survive.

Madison, Nick, and Alicia attend Charlene's memorial at the ranch. Sensing hostility from members of the community, Madison introduces herself to the ranchers and thanks them for taking her family in.

Ranchers demand an update on the helicopter attack, and Jeremiah assures the crowd that he is looking into the incident.

In line at the mess tent, a man accuses Madison and Alicia of being freeloaders. Gretchen, a young rancher around Alicia's age, introduces herself to Madison and Alicia, then invites Alicia to Bible study. Madison nudges Alicia to accept the invitation.

Nick takes care of Luciana at the infirmary. Luciana insists they leave the ranch as soon as she's feeling better.

Madison finds Troy lounging in Nick's bed in her bunkhouse. He opens up to Madison and says that he picked her, not Nick, to join his community. Madison insists Nick will earn his keep, and orders Troy to make the bed before he leaves.

Strand drives to a water depot at a dam, where he finds a long line of thirsty Tijuanans trading for water. He cuts to the front of the line and asks to speak with Dante. A guard orders him to wait in line and shoves him to the ground. Dante, Strand's former business associate, emerges and greets Strand.

In the bunkhouse, Madison assures Nick and Alicia that they can win over the minority of people who don't want them at the ranch. She also warns them to stay away from Troy. Nick insists they start over elsewhere, but Madison refuses to leave the relative safety of their new home.

Madison asks Jeremiah to protect her family from Troy and other hostile community members. She goes as far as threatening to expose Troy's twisted experiments at the fuel depot. Jeremiah refuses to tell people how to behave, but offers to teach her the culture of this ranch. He asks Jake to show her his video lectures.

Jake sets Madison up to watch Jeremiah's old video tapes. He promises to protect her family from Troy. Madison tells Jake she wants to find whoever shot down the chopper. He understands her desire to know who killed Travis.

Nick asks Alicia if she wants to stay at the ranch. She reasons that the ranch is just as bad as any other place, so why not stay.

Jake orders Troy to stay away from the Clark family. He reminds Troy that he's protecting him by hiding his psychopathic nature from others in the community.

Gretchen takes Alicia to a bunker for "Bible study". Inside, Gretchen and her friends pass around a bong and introduce Alicia to "Geoff", an infected head in a cage. Alicia bursts out laughing.

Madison discovers a collection of outtakes from Jeremiah's commercial. In the video, Jeremiah fights with his drunk wife and yells at a young Troy. She turns off the video when Jeremiah walks in the room.

Jeremiah explains that Jake and Troy are children from two different marriages. He admits that he and his second wife were alcoholics and that Troy took care of his mother towards the end of her life.

Dante and Strand trade stories over drinks. They have history from back when Strand and Thomas Abigail were doing business in Mexico. Strand tells Dante that Thomas is dead.

Alicia tells Gretchen and the other members of the "Bible study" group what life is like on the outside. She reveals that she killed a man, then admits it was an easy thing to do.

Dante leads Strand to a walkway on the dam and ambushes him. Strand watches as Dante's men push a prisoner over the edge into a pit of infected. Dante accuses Strand of being a thief and orders his guards to throw him over the edge.

In an attempt to make himself indispensable, Strand tells Dante that people will turn against him if he keeps serving water too close to his source. He offers to help organize an off-site water depot. Dante agrees to spare his life, and in exchange, Victor will become a worker for him: "You will feel just like the people you have taken from. You will feel powerless," he tells Strand.

Troy invites Nick on a nighttime boar hunt. Nick agrees and climbs into Troy's truck.

Madison informs Jeremiah that Nick is an addict. Jeremiah understands, having battled his own issues with alcohol. Jeremiah offers to show Madison why he tolerates Troy.

Troy and Nick hunt boar in the darkness of night with a group of fellow ranchers.

Jeremiah takes Madison to the "pantry", which is well-stocked with guns and supplies. He explains that he "broke" Troy in the old world, but that Troy now has a purpose in the new world. He has the killer instinct needed to survive. Madison pledges to help rebuild in Jeremiah's new world.

Troy stalks Nick around a corner, but then Nick tackles Troy and holds a gun to his face. Troy dares Nick to shoot and guesses it would take him 87 minutes to turn. Disgusted, Nick asks Troy what's wrong with him. "I just need to know why we spoil," Troy explains. Nick shoots the ground next to Troy's head and lets Troy go. Then, Troy tackles him. Nick grabs Troy's "scientific" journal, rips up the pages and laughs hysterically. Troy declares that they can now be friends.

Madison visits Luciana in the infirmary and explains that she doesn't want to leave the ranch because Travis died trying to bring them there.

Alicia and Gretchen leave the bunker in an inebriated state. Alicia crosses paths with Jake and he smiles.

Jeremiah announces to the community that it's been 36 hours since they dispatched a unit to investigate the chopper attack. He asks for volunteers to accompany Troy on a search mission to find their men. Madison volunteers.

At mealtime, Madison sits next to Troy instead of eating with Nick and Alicia. She lays out a napkin on Troy's lap.

Strand sits in a cell. Someone hands him water through a window. He chugs it, then looks through the window to see that the offering was given to him by Daniel Salazar, who says, "I told you I'd be your guardian angel.".

Worst TV show ever made
dragandomazet1 October 2017
The characters are unappealing, where everyone does not tell anyone what's going on or at-least try to share or explain what's happening, totally illogical interaction with people and family.

Its very painful to watch, as you wonder why do they not just try to share what they know and trust their family and people in general with what's happening around them.

Same with the government, community, and media. All are clueless and does not attempt to inform anyone else.

No originality, No character appeal, No logic, No excitement.

This review covers episodes 1 and 2, and so far it has been awful. Ligting strike in zombie, really?
